C860 With Cacko 1.23 --video Player Bug?
« on: November 21, 2005, 03:45:16 am »
Hello.

Ive just flashed my old C860 to the full Cacko 1.23 package.

Everything works fine, except for the Video Player.
I tested it using a 320x240 MP4 movie clip (which ran fine on the original Japanese ROM).
It runs ok in "window" view, but when I click on "Fullscreen" view, it automatically rotates 90 degrees anticlockwise (like in tablet mode) and then runs fullscreen. In other words the movie clip is running in tablet fullscreen when it should be running landscape fullscreen.
I tested 3 other movie clips (all 320x240 MP4) with the same result ( tablet fullscreen)

However on Kino2 player, the clips all run ok (ie landscape fullscreen).
And on my C1000 (original Japanese ROM) Video Player the clips  also all ran ok.

Is this a known issue? I did a forum search and read thru the Cacko FAQs but couldn't find anything on it.

Other than this minor glitch, Cacko 1.23 is running great, a big thank you to Maslovsky and co.

The same happens to my 860.
I had to re-process the movies with virtualdub in order to enlarge them and be able to watch a bigger format. Every time I try to enable a full-screen view the result is the same: automatic rotation and enlargement.

Regards,

Juan

C860 With Cacko 1.23 --video Player Bug?

I had the same problems when I upgraded to Cacko 1.23 from 1.21a/Kino2.

I suspect that you may be prerotating the video to get a performance boost.  I do this as well.

When you select full screen with the latest Kino (with or without 1.23), it also add -vf-add scale=320:240 to the command line in addtion to -fs.  Since the video is rerotated to support the 240:320 true orientation of the c860, it should be 240:320.

Anyway the fix:

Uncheck "Scale to screen", uncheck "Enable smart crop", and uncheck "Enable software scaling" options.  Now your 320x240 (really 240x320?) video should play in a very small window at full speed.

If you are not prerotating then you probably need to check "rotate video" as well, otherwise to do not check it.

To get full screen put in the "Advanced options" field in the General tab "-fs".

In the future to debug this:

cd /usr/local/bin
mv mplayer mplayer.bin

create a mplayer script:

#!/bin/bash
echo $* >/tmp/mplayer-opts.out
mplayer.bin $*
exit

end script.

Then cat /tmp/mplayer-opts.out to see what kino is doing.  Try mplayer from the command line as well.

Thanks for the replies. But that fix is for the Kino2 player?

My problem was with the Sharp Video Player actually, Kino2+Mplayer was working fine.

Well, personaly I had quite few problem playing movies in landscape mode in Kino2, if it do happend to you, be sure to have the last kino 2 (0.4.3c-1 now) and mplayer-bvdd (1.1.5-1 for me now).
Be carefull NOT to have mplayer-w100, I think it's for portrait mode zaurii (other than sl-c serie), thats probably why it always to play on portrait mode.
I can't believe I did spend so much time fixing this... cacko wouldnt play any movie correctly "out of the box", but with mplayer-bvdd now it's ok... the thing is I did install all mplayer I did found, thats why it would work even if I had mplayer-bvdd: the w100 version did probably overight the bvdd...
Hope it can help someone...
