5600 and tk ROM, what am I doing wrong?
« on: February 14, 2004, 03:09:45 pm »
I seem to have some fundamental problem flashing my 5600.  I tried the OZ stuff, without success (see post in OZ forum) and then have tried to flash the tk ROMs in several different ways, all without success.  I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that I should be using the 5500 versions of the kernel and initrd.  I have tried flashing:

- the 1.0 final zImage and 2.0 alpha initrd
- just the 2.0 alpha initrd
- just the 1.0 final initrd

all without success.  I get to the point where the updater sees the files and updates the kernel (in the first case) and the RO image, all seems to go fine and it reboots at the end of that process and then I get to the \"Sharp ... wait approximately 2 minutes\" screen and I stay there forever ...

I then reflash with the Sharp ROM CF that I have and it all comes back just fine ...

I must be doing something wrong, but I can\'t seem to figure it out, any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Make sure you have the proper files for your 5600

rename files-  zImage   initrd.bin   updater.sh

follow these instructions:

I believe I have the proper files, and just a note, I believe you need to create a \'zImage.bin\', not \'zImage\' file for 5600, that is how it is in the zip file and when you decode updater.sh that is what it is looking for ...

I am not using an mversion.bin file, is that important?  Maybe I will try that later ...

thanks!

Use the updater.sh-sl5600 from here:

Thanks!  That is the piece I was missing, I never found the site you point me to with 5600 specific tk roms ... I was using the 5500 versions from the ZUG Download section as there were no 5600 versions ... things are working for me now ...

What\'s your opinion of tk on 5600?  I tried OZ and was disappointed.... good for development but not regular use.  Right now I\'m liking Zynergy, but want to find something a bit more flexible.

How did you get around the problem with the Zynergy package installer ?
C3100   - Cacko with PDAXRom and OZ pretensions !

5600 - 255, 256m & 1G Sandisk SD, Wizgo 802.11b, Pocketop irk, bluemonkey BT, Watapon, OZ 3.5.3 Henteges, with a sprinkling of pocketworkstation - depending on the weather !

I run the tkcrom on my 5600.  IMHO it is the best available right now.  I was running Zynergy before and I\'d rank it a close second only because of the installer problem.

There are two Zynergy roms available for the 5600. I have used both but prefer the Zynergy-1.1 with the Special kernel installed on it. The only problem I have had with the  GUI ipkg installer was that libcrypto gave an error and ssh doesn\'t show up as being installed, when in fact they both are installed and work fine. This little problem is already documented on the Zynergy website.
