I saw this but it said it is for OZ.. Has anyone gotten nmap to work for sharp 5600. Somewhere i read ( i believe) you need nmap 3.1 but I couldnt find that one. Is that true?

Be most interested in hearing from anyone who has succeeded

Thanks
Greg
Nmap4 (\"Network Mapper\") is an open source utility for network exploration or security auditing. It was designed to rapidly scan large networks, although it works fine against single hosts. Nmap uses raw IP packets in novel ways to determine what hosts are available on the network, what services (ports) they are offering, what operating system (and OS version) they are running, what type of packet filters/firewalls are in use, and dozens of other characteristics. Nmap runs on most types of computers, and both console and graphical versions are available. Nmap is free software, available with full source code under the terms of the GNU GPL. This Version is from the OpenZaurus 3.2 stable version testing feed. I don\'t know if it works under Sharp rom, but it might. Mirror is UP!

Yes I got nmap to run on the 5600 with Sharp ROM. However the graphical front end isn\'t working. It installs but doesn\'t seem to do much. I think I got the ipk from killefiz.de

I\'m running nmap_3.10ALPHA9_arm.ipk for command line and qpenmapfe_1_0_0_arm.ipk for a GUI front-end (calls the nmap utility).  Both work for me.

The nmap I got from http://ipkgfind.handhelds.org/details.phtm...ficial=&format= and the gui from http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=269.

Use them responsibly 8)

I tried loading the ipks Tehas suggested. Not working for me.. When i run nmap from a terminal i get

nmap: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot load shared object files. No such file or directory.

I am running sharp rom 1.32 on a 5600... Any help would be appreciated.

Get nmap 2.53 from this zip file: http://prdownloads.sf.net/zaurus/zutilsvol2.zip
It\'s a binary only, no ipk so just copy it and make sure it is executable. This works fine with qpnmapfe both on my 5500 and 5600.

http://prdownloads.sf.net/zaurus is another thing that needs mirroring before it gets purged (The Zaurus SF project got closed down ages ago because it held multiple projects)

I downloaded the files tumnus suggested, ran chmod a+x /usr/bin/nmap and nmap is now up and running.

Thanks again tumnus.

EDIT: It seems OS detection is not functioning atm. I found a file zutilsnmap-extra.zip that has: nmap-protocols, nmap-os-fingerprints, nmap-rpc and nmap-services. I placed these files in /usr/bin, OS detection still not working. Will keep working on it.

The \"libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 is not a standard ipk, maybe OZ? But somehting I can\'t unpack, along with quite a few other nmap files I\'ve found while following this thread...

I did get the above \"nmap_3.10ALPHA9_arm.ipk for command line and qpenmapfe_1_0_0_arm.ipk\" to run after doing a google search for \"zaurus libstdc\" First hit resulted in a \"libstdc_6.1_arm.ipk\" which unfortunately is a version 6.1 and not he 6.2 that nmap was looking for. I did a sym-link to ver 6.2 and everything ran. Only problem now is that it filled memory after a minute and I had to reboot...

I may try the version 2.53 also to see if it works better. Nice to have found those utils ;-) Thanks!

I noticed that there are three options for downloading nmap_3.10ALPHA9_arm.ipk as follows:

Familiar Unstable (the link from Tehas)
Familiar 0.7 Base
Familiar 0.7.2 Base

Which one?

Sorry but I don\'t have better notes.  I know that I had tried other versions of nmap in the June timeframe and couldn\'t find something that worked.  In August, I stumbled on a thread on Dev/Net pointing to the 3.10ALPHA version.  AFAIK, I took the first link at the top of the page which is the unstable feed.  I just downloaded the others but I don\'t see a difference in file sizes to tell you for sure.

I don\'t see the file \"libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2\" on my system so I don\'t know why mine works when yours does not.  I wonder what kind of problems I\'d have if I ever had to go back and rebuild my Zaurus from scratch!  I\'ve tried to keep a journal but I don\'t keep track of each little fix that do - especially those that I found on the Dev/Net.

My OS detection does work.

Ok, This is the error msg I get when I try to use OS detection feature from terminal:
OS scan requested but I cannot find nmap-os-fingerprints file. It should be in /home/guest/diller@sudancid.com/local/share/nmap, ~/+nmap/ or + QUITTING!

the + sign is very small, not sure what that means..

Currently I have nmap, nmap-os-fingerprints, nmap-protocols, nmap-rpc, nmap-services installed in /usr/bin.

Hi,
Thanks tumnus for the link. I downloaded too, and found two things.
MOrt, where did you get those 5 files to put in /bin, I just got the executable, and I get error on nmap services (it defaults to /etc/services so not a biggie), and also the os fingerprinting.

Also, Im having troubles with the network mask. It doesnt seem to work when you specify the ping or regular scan with either 192.168.0.1/32 or even 192.168.0.1/10 for 10 ips. If you specify the specific ip address to scan it will work.

I\'m running nmap_3.10ALPHA9_arm.ipk for command line and qpenmapfe_1_0_0_arm.ipk for a GUI front-end (calls the nmap utility). Both work for me.  me too ;-)

I just ran it from Konsole with sudo nmap -O 192.168.0.33

I got similar results as above, but I did get an OS \"guess\", which I thought was kinda cute, and also right.

My nmap files were installed into usr/share/nmap

And it all seems to work okay...

My -o option just complained about the file not found. Also have you gotten the subnet to work with the ip/32 or ip/5 ???
