ipkg works after reboot (?? not sure why)

In dmesg, I see:
mmc0: unrecognised SCR structure version 1

could that be an indicator?

I'm getting a kernel panic after it reboots following the kernel flash. I have repartitioned my internal RAM using pdaXrom's updater to 64/64. I partitioned the internal driver per the instructions on OpenZaurus for the 3100, except I added a swap partiion as a 4th partition.

error I'm getting is:
Code: [Select]
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,1)
First time this ocurred, I went back and formated partitions 1&2 as ext2 and partition 3 as dos, thinking that since I had repartitioned but hadn't formated them that was the problem. Instructions are silent on whether formatting is needed.

Suggestions?

I just rebooted my Z to see if ldconfig should just appear for me but, as I expected, that didn't work. I noticed that gnumeric is in the feeds now so I tried installing that but it just gave me the old 'ldconfig not found' error again.

This is easily fixed I'd hope- won't have to wait until next release right?

Just waiting for Abiword now, then I've got to figure out how to import the cacko calendar then its bye bye sharp rom!

Can we get audacity and amule (both need wxgtk libs) into OZ?

Doh, User error strikes again  I had renamed the root file system to initrd.bin instead of hdimage1.tgz.

What user are you running as? root presumably? Did you do 'su -' to become root (to ensure that the sbin directories are included in the $PATH)?

I thought ldconfig was actually present in the images...

Could be, but I don't know what it means I'm afraid.

Might be worth bothering the folks on irc to see whether anyone has a working card, etc.

I use this
[a href=\"http://naismith.sakura.ne.jp/rom/e060312/zImage-2.6.15-spitz-20060307080608.bin]http://naismith.sakura.ne.jp/rom/e060312/z...60307080608.bin
instead of
http://ewi546.ewi.utwente.nl/tmp/hrw/3.5.4...60320074320.bin

And it works

It is mine or 3.4.5.1. beta 1 is not working on spitz ??

I have read instructions on the website ... and i know how to install Linux on pda (Cacko, pdaXrom, Oz) ... and i think problems are in zImage

Thanks you.

Yes - it means that your card is not supported yet by Linux 2.6 due to lack of SD documentation.

ldconfig is under /sbin and sbin looks to me like its in su's path under /etc/profile. It works when I run it manually but it doesn't get found by ipkg.

Abiword and gnumeric run now- the problem with Abiword is that the Spell Check option is greyed out even though aspell seems to be installed. The good news is that Abiword loads much faster under OZ than when I last tried it under a pdaxrom beta.

Sound works on mplayer but theres no bvdd output by the look of things yet. Does anybody know anything about bvdd support under OZ mplayer? Is anything in the works? beep-media-player just didn't work at all for some unknown reason.

When when I choose to install firefox why does thunderbird get installed too? Thunderbird drained my last bit of space on the root drive- big program I don't use.

My dad really needs a working Zaurus back tonight so I'm going to have to re-install cacko because I couldn't get gpe-filemanger to install. Its trying to install a package called osso-gnome-vfs but it conflicts with files in gnome-vfs-dbus. I think the games or something else less important should be removed if space needs to be made to put gpe-filemanager in the standard GPE image. If theres one app I want its a good graphical filemanager with MIME support.

I can see that 2.6 based OZ is very nearly here for C3000 users and its looking very good already. I'll definately be trying the next release out too- thanks OZ/OE team!

EDIT: every time I open an excel file under gnumeric it comes up with the warning

'Unable to read MS property stream header'

but then the file opens fine. bit annoying though.

Use 'Root shell' in GPE then to be logged as root directly or set proper PATH when 'su' to root.

bvdd was 2.4 only solution - no use under 2.6 kernel. There are patches which improve pxafb video possibilities and we will look at them later - now we are concentrated on getting everything worked correctly and accepted in mainline kernel.

hmm.. tried to run it from shell?

Hmm.. can you report is as a bug iin OE bugtracker? http://bugs.openembedded.org/ - we need to clean this dependencies.

Is there a lot of cxx00 kernel code that was left out of yesterdays 2.6.16 release? I can't wait to see these pxafb patches get integrated- smooth video playback seems like the only thing worth keeping cacko on for now.

Anyone wrote a howto dual-boot OZ with Cacko? Will the OZ updater script still work with a different partition setup?

Is there no way to turn my wifi card off when inserted into the Z without unplugging it? It would be great if you could turn it off from the wifi icon.

Just found another bug I think- I was playing a music file under mplayer but the volume was uneffected when I tried to alter it with the GPE panel volume slider.

tried "ipkg install e-uae" danbold?

quake2 and zynaddsubfx are not in OE so not in OZ.

flavien,

i have the same problem, and the other kernel you indicate is also working on my c3000.
I've also followed the instructions on installing a 2.6 kernel.

md5sum is OK for the zImage file.

As i've played with my Z and Roms lately (opendbsd and pdaxrom b2 for c3000) i've restored it from scratch (nand restore and so on..) and even after that the Z won't boot.

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,0)

ARRRGHH

i've re-read the OZ website page about sl-c3000 install... and someone (JaMa) said on march the 20th that even with an SD card in slot while booting the Z won't boot...
So flavien, you have to remove all memory cards and it should do the trick. I didn't even think about it and i always hae an SD card in slot...
