Has someone actually tried?

My concern is that it is USB powered and I understand the usb on the Zaurus doesn't put out much current.

You have to make sure that it has an extra +5V input plug (and a switch "USB/external power) like the one I have! Or else it wont work with your Z!

It shows a max power requirement of 500ma... somebody on another thread (can't remember who but if you search I am sure you will find it) mentioned that the SL-Cxxxx devices have a max output of 200ma so I would suggest no this isn't going to work well with the Zaurus without external power.

OpenBSD 4.2 -current on full 4Gb of SL-C3000

yes iamasmith the c3000 can only output 200mA (max) but there are many hubs that have external power. There are a external power for the zaurus (conics.net) that work with it's hubs and do a max output that aprox. 1A (with 4 ports)
Zaurus C3k (spitz)
