2gb And Up Sd Cards Supported

I'd really like a nice IPK of this for the 6000 (Tosa), if possible. Any chance we might see anything soon?

One of the biggest limitations of my Z right now is storage -- I'm maxed out at 1GB CF and 1GB SD -- and card storage prices are dropping like a rock. 4GB 150x SDs can be had for $93.

Just an expirience here.  Im not sure how this fits into my 4gb sd.  But I was playing with the cacko and the driver I put up, installed software into my 4gb.  Then after a while, it couldnt accept install to sd with ipk.  I would get an error that there is not enough memory or something to that extent.  I figured i would fdisk the 4gb and hosed it.  It doesnt work on my pda anymore.  I had this expirience with my sandisk 128mb on my zaurus years ago.  well my 4gb does work on my windows pc but it refuses to be seen in my zaurus.  same expirience as my sandisk.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody expirienced something similar?  since its still under warranty, im gona return it for another brand or the same.

Has anybody had any expirience similar to this?

Hello everyone,

since this is my first post here I'd like to say that I really like this forum! I'm a new and very happy Zaurus C1000 owner, and it just rocks

I got myself a 4GB Platinum SD Card and downloaded Cresho's driver. Rebooted, and it just works  Thanks a lot Cresho!

Just a little question: I partitioned the SD card with a 1gig ext2 and a 3gig fat32 partition. Is there a way to create a new mountpoint under /usr/mnt.rom/ like card1 for the second partition to keep the standard? Or do I have to mount it in my homedir?

If I am notmistaken, Meanie's automounter-c3000 package takes care of that automatically.

what partition did you have on it to begin with?  Some cards do not work.  can you see that partition or directories in the file browser in the zaurus?  keep the partition fat 16.

I've been using 'zaurus-sd-driver-update-cxxxx_1.0_arm' since the ipk was first posted.  Pretty much as soon as I read (meanie posted it, I think) that pdaxrom beta1 could use the file.  Reflashed to beta1, used the package manager gui to install the ipk to /, and then rebooted.  It was a litle hairy when I first inserted my 4GB SD card, my 3100 froze when I put it in, and I pulled the battery.  It has been flawless ever since.

Oh, it is an A Data Turbo 4GB, 150x 'MyFlash'.  It is dark blue/purple, with a pink label.  It is also half the price or less that I paid for it at this time, lol.

It's not uncommon to find flash cards (CF, SD, etc.) with no partition table. It seems some versions of Windows and some devices will see that the first sector is an MS-DOS boot sector instead of a master boot record and treat the card as a (really big) floppy disk.

If you want to partition the card (you will lose all the data on the card), start fdisk with a "-z" option to zero out the first sector.

I seem to be having the same problem as SNi.  When I try to use Cacko's Add/Remove Software app (maybe this is not specific to Cacko) I also have the same not enough storage memory for installation message.  This happens when the card (w/single 4GB partition) is formatted fat, vfat, or ext2.

Packages install to internal flash no problem and also install to my 512MB card no problem.

I'll try ipkg via command line.

Update: Yep, ipkg via command line seems to install to the card.    Is there some other ipkg front end type program that overcomes this high memory limitation?

Works fine - Transcend 4 GB SD (TS4GSD150) in SL-C3000 w/ stock ROM..
SNi
($141.98 from zipzoomfly.com)

thanks for this valuable piece of information.  added it to the list of supported sd cards.

OK, a clarification. It's only been a couple of days so I don't know about "stability". Seems good so far. One weird thing - if I try to install a new ipk to SD using the Add/Remove Software app I get the error message "Not enough storage memory for installation" However, can still install to SD from command line..

Seems a bit of something inside the QTopia system (i.e. only applied to graphical apps) is hardcoded to a maximum partition size of 2GB when checking available space.

Just got a 4GB PQI Hi-speed 150 SD card and cannot get this bad boy working.    I tried the following.
1.  I downloaded the driver from the start of the thread and installed it using the package manager------- said everything was ok.

2.  I rebooted the C1000 and plugged in the card-----nothing.

3.  Ran a "df -h" from the shell and got nothing referencing /mmc

4.  Ran "dmesg" and got the following response.

 pxa_sd_wait_response: responce time out (cmd=52 MMC_STAT=0x2142)
pxa_sd_wait_response: responce time out (cmd=05 MMC_STAT=0x2142)

5.  Checked the install package manager and noticed that under the install portion the package was still referencing it was not installed.  However when I would go to the uninstall section it was installed.

6.  Double checked card was recognized by a Windows PC w/ a SD card reader and had it formated for FAT32.... is that ok?

7.  Since I had so much crap in my C1000 i decided to reload from Cacko 1.23 full with 1.23 lite and start with a clean install-------------same kind of output.

8.  Uninstalled the SD card driver and re-installed through the console-----same thing and output.

9.  My 1 GB card does work.

10.  Tried Meanie's way of shutting down the sd card mngr service and restarting-----same thing.

11.  Brain's starting to fry now and getting a facial tick from stress

Can anyone give me any guidance???

Thanks....

that card must be one of the "not supported" type.  2gb pretec cards work excellently but Liberty 4gb gaved me a little issue after 2 weeks.  Read up in the forums and figure out who has had excellent results from a 4gb.  Use that 4gb if they recommend it.  PQI is a bit...hmmm  "iffy"
