5600, OZ, and flashing problems
« on: February 21, 2004, 03:24:16 pm »
Alright.  I\'ve tried flashing my Zaurus with OZ, but, no matter what I do, it just doesn\'t seem to work.

I\'ve tried two CompactFlash cards: one SanDisk 32MB card and one Lexar 256MB card.  I rename the two OZ-5600 files to zImage and initrd.bin, and put them in the root directory of whichever card I\'m using.  Then, I try to flash.  Nothing but blinking lights.

Anyone have a clue as to what my problem might be?  I am I missing a file or something?  I\'ve read through the forums and tried different things, but nothing seems to work.  If it makes a difference, my Zaurus runs the PXA255 processor.

Thanks,

westlord

I have the same exact problem.  The procedure is to place the files on the cf card (properly named as above), plug in ac cord, flip to replace battery, press c and d and press the reset button.  All I get are flashing lights forever.  I\'m using a brand new sandisk 256 card.  Before I go out and buy another card, anyone see anything wrong with what I\'m doing??

I am getting ready to do this myself. Reading the doc, it did say it needs to be vfat16. You haven\'t formatted the card in ext2 format, right?

Nope, it\'s straight out of the box new.  I didn\'t explicitly check it, but they said they come as vfat from the store - so no ext2 here.

you say you have a 5600.  I did not realize for quite a while that virtually all of the OZ site docs refer to the 5500.  This includes the method you used to flash.  flashing on the 5600 is done by holding down the \"ok\" key while you hit the on/off button (after removing the battery cover, etc. which you said you did.

hi, I flashed oz into my sl-5600,
if you use the updater.sh and othe files  from http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/poodle/ then the name of the kernel must be zImage.bin not zImage, it installed that way.
