« on: April 25, 2006, 02:52:43 pm »
Hi everybody,

I have installed pdaxrom onto my Zaurus.

Everything goes fine except the internet connection throught usb (thanks to Microsoft Windows, i don't event try under my debian) and the lifetime of my battery ...

With the cacko the battery goes 7 days!
But with the pdaxrom, 1 day at least ...
And the clock is always retarding !

I don't have change anythng on pdaxrom, just install it.
I have try two versions :

http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1/Zaurus-...beta1-akita.zip

http://mail.pdaxrom.org/download/1.1.0beta...beta3-akita.zip

help me please, i have also search on the forum but ...

thanks you very much

Out of interest sake, if you open a shell, and type 'top', what is the top few processes?
Also, in 'top' sort by total CPU usage (I think you press 'T', or 't' in it), and see what is the few highest CPU hoggers.

I'm just wondering if there is something other than the idle task chewing up resources?

I have a similar problem on my 3100, I've checked top frequently and it is just kapmidled using up the spare CPU. I think the problem may lie with the suspend. I often find when I suspend my Z the HDD LED comes on and stays on whilst the Z is off (even after lots of reflashes/tinkering/playing with partitions and swap). When I resume it, the LED returns to it's normal state.

I have a feeling that the suspend on pdaXrom may be using more power than normal somehow. Is this possible?

I'm still using beta2.

When i type "top", kapm-idled take 95% of the CPU.
This is anormal, i have nothing running !

This thread is for power management i think (apm) ...

For those who don't have the problem, can you send me the link you download pdaxrom.

Perhaps my links are wrong...

but there is a lot of users who have the same problem !

Thanks a lot for your help

I have try the again the two beta version and the verdict is the same : in one day the battery is out of power! And i have do nothing on my Zaurus, just let him close!

The battery was 100% charging when i have flash.

I have try with cacko, my Zaurus hold on between 5 and 7 days. And during this time i work on my Zaurus ...

I have another question, what is the current stable version of pdaxrom?
the version i have tested are beta ... no?

thanks for your help

Dear Baallorg,

I kind of think the CF cards are not ejected properly when you are
powering down pdaxrom. I have both a 860 and 3000. on 860
when I pressed the power button the CF card will not resume
properly, so I have to resort to use "apm -s" to suspend the
machine. Similarly, on the 3000, I have to use the same method.
Or, if I ejected the CF card using "cardctl eject 0" first then
pressing the power button is no problem.

BR,

Felix.

Dear Baallog,

You forgot microdrives are hard-disk based devices that do need
power to spin around even when you are not using it.

Even if in standby mode it does need to keep the electronics alive to
wake up the hdd.

BR,

Felix.
