What am I missing.
I installed gpe-irc and it connects to freenet but no matter what I type on the line pressing enter does not submit it. Am I missing something or is this a bug I should report?

Yeah.  I've had trouble with it too.  I'd rather use opie-irc than bitchx.

Thanks for the backup. I'll submitt a bug report if there isn't already one.
Can you use opie-irc under GPE, or am I misunderstanding you?

I was really tired when I wrote that.    No, you can't use opie-irc with gpe.  Your only option on the Z other than bitchx is to ssh into a server somewhere running some irc client in a screen.

the gaim irc plugin, xchat and irssi all work fine on my Z.

Try looking for yourself, 'ipkg list' exists for a reason

I did, and it's possible I missed it, but I didn't think it was there....
