1gb+ Sd Card Support
« on: June 13, 2006, 03:10:36 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm really new to the scene (just bought a C1000 last week), and I'm trying to digest *so much* information   .  Trying to narrow-down which ROM I think is "best" is pretty hard, but I really like OZ, so my OZ question...

How do I get an SD card >1GB (e.g. 2GB) to work with 3.5.4.1-rc4?

I managed to track-down Tetsu's patch for Cacko, which works great on Cacko; however I'd like to use OZ (and my 2GB SD)!!  I don't imagine this patch would work for OZ, right?  Though I'll try it just in case!

Any suggestions are greatly received  .

Regards.

M

WOW!  Just tried OZ and you're right - works straight out of the box.  Brilliant, no faffing around needed!!

i guess that oz supports also bigger sd cards on the tosa, but i have a general question
which may be of importance for me:

if the respective rom/driver only respects the size of say 1 gb is it possible to partition a bigger sd card in 1 gb parts and use them on the z?

thanx, malik

mailk: All Zaurus models with working SD/MMC under 2.6 kernel (so no 5500/5000) can handle SD/MMC cards larger then 1G.

So with such a statement being said (re quote above) why then did my 2gig work under the sharp rom (english convert of the factory ROM) sudenly stop working with my newly flashe CACKO rom? I have try all day surfing this forum (the most awsome resource out there) and have not solved this issue.

I flashed the ROM for the CACKO seemed to work flawlessly with WiFi cards and gsm GPRS cards. It did and they now work great. So the loss of an SD card is anoying but not as important for me as the wireless capabilities. I tryed for two month to get both running with the stock SHARP rom to no avail.

Am now building a list of all software that will work and hardware toys that i plug in with out headaces, any idea which thread would be best to post such data?

thanks for any and all thoughts on this.

first of all, the above statement is about OZ, not cacko or sharp rom which are different, for one, they use the older 2.4.20 kernel, not 2.6

as for your problem, the 3200 comes with a newer sd driver that supports 2GB sd cards, but cacko does not because its based on the c1000 model which has the same kernel revision but is slightly older (it does not have the new updated model that came with the 3200)
just install this and be happy [a href=\"http://zaurus.daemons.gr/menaie/feed/sdmmc-module_2.4.20_arm.ipk]http://zaurus.daemons.gr/menaie/feed/sdmmc..._2.4.20_arm.ipk[/url]
