Clover Paint 1.05
« on: June 14, 2006, 04:37:21 pm »
I just found this in an older post.
http://homepage1.nifty.com/fluorit/pda/clo...ntmanual_e.html
The download is also there. (cloverpaint_1.05_arm.ipk) (ELSI has 1.04 older version)
The page says it's for SL-6000, SL-C3000, SL-C1000, SL-C750, SL-C760, SL-C860, SL-C700
I cannot get it to run in landscape mode.
I tried modifying the .desktop file.
(actually there are 2 desktop files)
cloverpaint.desktop
cloverpaint.desktop~
The screen orientations are shown in these files.
cloverpaint.desktop (Display = 640x408/144dpi,480x640/144dpi)
cloverpaint.desktop~ (Display = 480x640/144dpi)
No matter how I change these settings, or substitute one for the other, I still get the warning in the second screenshot. "Please change to ViewStyle."
Then I need to use the "Cancel" button on my C3100 to exit this screen.
If I rotate my screen to PDA, Portrait mode, the program launches with no problems.
I also tried removing the "Display" settings in the .desktop file to get the checkbox, "Display with magnified view", and checked that, and then unchecked it.
Checking, "Display with magnified view" locks up my C3100 and needs a reset in the battery compartment.
This is a really cool looking paint program, and I would like to get it working in Landscape.
In Portrait mode, the keyboard isn't accessable.
Thank you for reading this long post,
Jon

The files with ~ are most likely backup files.  I'm guessing that the person who put this ipk together used emacs to edit the files, as emacs will create backups with names like this by default.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you can stop worrying about what is in the ~ files.

I had written to the author late 2005 about support for landscape mode and the reply was along the lines of

"there are no plans to support landscape because it would require redoing the interface"

So maybe if someone offers to help with the landscape mode interface the author might reconsider.

Does it need the keyboard on the clamshell models?
If it doesn't need the keyboard, then it must be only used with a mouse or stylus.
I need to get a USB mouse and try it.
I don't know the first thing about programming or writing software, so a mouse would be a good choice for me.
