Hi,

I'm a little surprised that noone has answered this post yet, which *may* mean:

1 - Everyone "in the know" is real busy, or even away from the forum
2 - The documentation is crystal clear
3 - No one that has seen your post is quite sure how to respond correctly
4 - Folks saw 3 questions in a row

I have a few minutes and will try to help you, but I suspect there are folks out there
that will respond soon, with better advise, etc.

OK, that aside, let me say that I have not even tried the GUI-based network/wireless
configuration in a very long time, although I did use it in the distant past on an SL-5500,
but that was many versions ago..

What I do, is based on the information in the SL-6000 Tutorial post, which is somewhat
old, but it works very well, although I have a 6000, and I always know the ESSID of
the access point I am connecting to.  You would have to poke around or wait for a
better reply, if you want to connect to "any" access point, without having to specify the name.

I am currently using beta1 on a 6000, and I manually modify and create new files
in /etc/wlan exactly as described in that post.

I may setup a web page in the very near future, but I will need a host, a little storage,
and hopefully some donations to make it a world-class reference site.  I know how
frustrating it is sometimes on any OS when folks are just getting started, and I'd like
to help fill the void.  It seems that when I was working, I barely had enough time to
eat supper, never mind contribute.  Presently, I have been spending a lot of time
learning about the pieces of pdaXrom I never had a chance to, etc.  Anyway I
don't want to wear out this keyboard, so find that post in this forum, and you should
be connected with your Zaurus soon.  If not, post how far you got, and what you see.

Later,  John

You're welcome...  Actually about 6 or 7 of those reads were by me.  When I posted
the message, I was taking a break from trying to mount a motorcyle tire outside, and
I signed it "Later...".  I contemplated changing it, since it struck me as potentially
appearing sarcastic, which was not my intent.  I forgot that my tools and (unlocked)
bike, were outside, and wrapped up the message in haste!

Gotta go again, I hope to see a message stating you are connected soon.
