Cacko rom and USB drive
« on: February 27, 2004, 06:59:31 pm »
Is there a howto to get this working?

I have a mount point for USB drives on my Linux box, but plugging in the C750 with the latest Cacko rom shows up nothing recognisable.

Plugging it into a Win2k box asks me to install drivers for a C860 and doesn\'t make a drive show up.

What do you have the PC-Link set to USB storage, USB I/O, or USB TCPIP?
If you want it to show as a drive then it needs to ne USB storage, if you have it set to USB TCP/IP then the CF,SD and Home will show up under network places.

The USB storage only allows you to choose 1 of SD od CF cards - not both at once

Ahhh, I see, my thanks.

So you cant make it see the whole filesystem, or even just the internal memory?

Nope not with USB storage (at least that is my experience) you only get the contents of the SD or CF card. If you want to see internal memory AND SD and CF then your better choosing USB TCP/IP, that also mounts all the cards and internal memory via samba - they are available via Network Places on my XP box, or via samba-mount on my linux box, although with linux I just ssh or scp to the Z and you have access to the whole filesystem.

Since I usually only use the USB cable in the lab not really an option, but it\'s not too hard to move files to the SD card to transfer them

Thanks though.
