Getting Network To Work On 3.5.4.1
« on: July 07, 2006, 07:25:53 am »
I can't get the network to work. The ethernet card (not wireless) is running OK, eth0 is up, ip address is assigned and all, but I can't reach anything. I can ping addresses but http and ftp seems blocked, ipkg and minibrowser just times out.

This is a completely fresh install. Any ideas? The problem is definitely in the Zaurus because network is OK from other machines.

What are the IP addresses you have set on either side of the connection?

Do you have routing setup correctly?

I had to set up the wireless connection on eth0 and for DHCP.  Then it worked fine.

I had read to use wlan0 but that didn't work.

I want to know how to set up the Z to use something like wififofum (http://www.aspecto-software.com/rw/applications/wififofum/)

I want to be able to find something that will pick up on networks and let me connect to them.  I am running OZ GPE.

Does anyone know of anything?

Try prismstumbler (make sure to install the frontend too) Also wifi-radar is good just for connecting (you won't get any ware-driving info) For wifi-radar, you'll need to enable either the Perl or Python feeds- I don't remember which.

Cheers,
