Yasump, Got It Working In Cacko [mod Player]
« on: July 07, 2006, 04:30:06 pm »
This plays MOD files and their variations.
I'm actually using the 4.0 version, cause the 4.1 version has a bug as shown in README.
Most places where you download this, the version isn't marked, but I found one feed with both versions, clearly marked.
The one I am using is: yasump_0.40.tar.gz

I'm wondering if anyone here would know how to force this program to use a different or larger font?
As shown in the screenshot, the fonts are really tiny.
I'm nearsighted, and can read very small print without glasses.
These fonts are very small, and cannot be read unless you're real close to the screen.

Thank you,
Jon

BTW, Meanie, if you read this, I first thought this file was a source, but is actually a package without being an ipk.

EDIT: It also includes the source in a seperate directory

EDIT2: Meanie attached a newer version for clamshells here:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=143617
Get it's dependency (libmikmod_3.2.0_arm.ipk) here:

I found a way to make the fonts appear larger in Yasump.
It's a workaround, and some people may NOT want to try this.
I just deleted all the 10pt and 12pt Helvetica font symlinks in /home/QtPalmtop/lib/fonts/
I also deleted 2 of the 14pt fonts, but left the "Bold" 14pt fonts there.
They are:
helvetica_140_75.qpf
and
helvetica_140_75_t10.qpf

I never seemed to need the 10 and 12 point fonts, so deleting them doesn't seem to matter much.
Now anything that "Requests" a small helvetica font, is only going to be able to use the 14 point Bold ones that I left remaining.
Compare the screenshot of Yasump in this post to my last post.

EDIT: I also noticed that my 14pt fonts are not available anymore in apps such as Hancom Word. The non-bold versions seem to need to be present to be selectable in Hancom. I tried switching to bold, then back to the font selector and the 14pt ones are still not in the font selector.
I usually use 16pt and larger anyway, so this is no problem to me, but anyone trying this, should know that you'll need the "Regular" versions of fonts available to have them available in apps like Hancom.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143301\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I just deleted the symlinks, these are easy to get back to the original form.
Plus I have a backup of all the original fonts in Cacko on my desktop PC
I ended up symlinking my "Regular" 14pt helvetica fonts back to where they were originally, because Opera uses this font size when rendering webpages.
Opera is the only program so far that I use, that uses the 10pt and 12pt fonts.
Hancom can use these sizes also, but they are so small, I never use them.
I'm going to leave the 10pt & 12pt "missing" for awhile and see if I really have to have them.
It's too bad that you have to replace/delete fonts globally to "fix" other programs that have very small fonts.
I don't have the expertise to re-compile yasump to use larger fonts and when it uses 10 pt fonts it is very hard to read.

EDIT: Could it be that Yasump was designed to run in magnified/portrait mode only?
EDIT2: I just tried to enable magnified mode, it's not available in the properties screen.

here's the binary if anyone wants to try it.
EDIT3: I just added "yasump.desktop" from version .041
The instructions in yasump_0.40 says to copy this desktop file to your Z, but it wasn't included in 0.40

I have yasump under cacko on my c1000.       It works, but what a horrible user interface!

Is it the only bet for mods/tracker files on a c1000?   I tried the milkytracker beta, but it doesn't seem to work on my c1000 (looks great, though).   It would be great to have a tracker-style display in a portable.
