Pdaxrom Beta4 For C3000
« on: July 12, 2006, 05:33:42 pm »
Hi

Just a little word to let you know that I'm still alive and starting to work on porting beta4 and uboot to our beloved c3000 ...

Sorry it took me so long to give some news but I had too much work ... btw i'm now in holydays so you can expect more news from me really soon

Don't hesitate to post your thoughts/ideas/tryouts which could help me doing it faster
SL-C3000 - pdaXrom 1.1.0Beta1
SL-C860 - pdaXrom 1.1.0 RC8 (charging circuitry dead :( )
CF RamStar 512 Mb / Hitachi 4Gb microdrive (thanks to creative's muvo² :p)
SD Sandisk 1Gb / Viking 256 Mb
Linksys WCF13 CF wifi card

Anyone willing to donate for my work, please consider donate to pdaXrom and/or OE/OZ projects instead, I wouldn't have been able to do anything without them ...

Please add the support for MD replacement CF cards of different brands and sizes. Default reflashing procedure doesn't support them, so after replacing my MD to 1 Gb TS1GCF45 I had to reflash manually - it was in Pdax for c3000 topic...

I know... just using t "pdaXqt rom" for a sort of brand recognition.

status update : I've made a few trys using altboot but OZ and pdaXrom's are not buildt the same way (no init.sysvinit nor chroot in pdaXrom's /sbin dir), beside OZ and pdaXrom not using the same glibc makes altboot unusable as any pdaXrom's binary used will segfault (maybe we'd be able to use it once it will be able to kexec by itself, or is there a way to configure it so it can do it ?)
Else I'm currently working on having uboot working on my c3000 ... more news soon

That's great news sashz!

The last I heard, performance of the pxa overlay driver wasn't as good as bvdd under 2.4. Is this still the case?

might want to have a look at this:
http://www.piro.hopto.org/~piro/pukiwiki/p...1%A1C3000%5D%5D

it appears that this boot loader is based on the latest 2.6.x kernel and is able to chain boot 2.4 and 2.6 systems...

thanks for that, but it's a bit cryptic...does this mean we now have a straightforward way to install Beta 4 on out C3000s?
