I would be interested to know if anyone has tried this as a USB drive to work with Mandrake Move.
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

What\'s Mandrake Move? I use it with Mandrake 9.2.

Take a look here lardman (like the name, I get called that sometimes...)

http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/mandrakemove

It\'s a distro that runs off a CD, you use it with a USB Mass Storage device to hold your data and config. Could be handy if it worked with our beloved Z\'s.

As Move is based on 9.2 I\'d guess (and that\'s all it is) that it will work.

Try it and see ;-)

P.S. Lardman came from my habit (in the first year at uni) of eating nothing much but eggs and bacon (all I knew how to cook back then). Hasn\'t done me any harm either.... :-)

Iv tried the USB Storage pakage under Opie but it dont work.  The Z looks good to go, but is not recognised by my windows PC when docked.  Is there anything stoopid Imdoing or am I flogging a dead horse?

I never actually tested the ipk for OZ. Which version are you running BTW?

I manually placed the storage_fd.o module in place, then I use the scripts (either earlier in this thread or the other one about mass-storage) to change from net to storage etc.

(Sorry for reviving old topics)

Anyone tried this on a recent (3.5.3) OZ? Specially for those who use / on a SD?

It worked for me with 3.5.3 iirc.

If you have / on the sd card you won't be able to mount the sd card as usb-storage though, unless you are willing to lose / on the Zaurus (whatever's used as usb-storage must be umounted on the Zaurus so it's accessible for the computer you're plugging into to write to it directly).

Hm. Lardman's package work on my setup. I had to open the package and install it manually because even with sharp-compat-libs installed and all the force-* magic, it always failed complaining about qpe-base.

I used my CF as a storage device.

This might explain why I couldnt get it to work.  I installed quite a few apps to the SD card I was trying to use as storage... If the SD couldnt be remounted cos its in use then I guess that would be why it didnt work for me.
