problems ssh\'ing over dial-up
« on: March 02, 2004, 12:37:55 pm »
I\'ve set up DUN over bluetooth to my T610 and that\'s all working fine. I can dial up and browse away with opera.
When I open a terminal and try to ssh, it just waits and waits rather than timing out, also, if I try to ping, the same happens. If I kill the dial-up or hang up the phone while it\'s trying either, it gives the \"network unreachable\" error immediately.
If it\'s a routing issue, why does opera work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated since the main reason I got a Z is to administrate machines from the pub

That doesn\'t sound like a routing issue to me.  Do the names resolve when you try to ping or ssh?  Are any other services working?  There could be a transparent proxy fixing the problem with http...Have you tried adjusting your network settings?  (e.g. TTL, window size, mtu, etc.)
