Beta 3 Sluggish Compared To R121
« on: November 29, 2006, 03:05:34 pm »
Is it just me, or is Beta 3 really slow? It takes about 5 seconds just to open up MRXVT, which takes almost no time at all on my C750 running Beta 1. Is it always like this, or is there a fix laying around? R121 was much faster, so is it kernel-related?

Thanks!
SL-C750- pdaXrom beta 1 (mostly unused)
Current distro: Gentoo

rc121 is faster due to the 2.6 kernel...

Then why is Beta 1 so much faster on my C750? Is it the different CPU?

well... I've never used beta1... but it maybe added features (daemons) running taking up more system resources... a bug in that kernel release... it could be a variety of reasons...
