I tried compiling on the Zaurus but kept running out of memory even with a swapfile setup. If someone has a huge swap or cross-compiles, it looks like a pretty staight forward build.

I'll give it a shot, but it will be with a 2.6 kernel. Is that OK, or should I not bother?

IF you can do it with the 2.6 kernel, that would be great. I am using beta3 right now, but everytime something interesting gets compiled for 2.6 I think about trying it again.

The deed is done...I got it compiled. No idea if it works, but I'll package it up and post it ASAP.

I'm also thinking of compiling Stargus if there is interest. Is there? Maybe the new BoS Wars release, too.

I am now running pdaXii13 5.3. My ethernet adapter is worthless without the driver. Without it I have to keep dragging my laptop around. Don't mean to be a pest, but would appreciate if someone could compile this driver. If you search the forum, you will notice that there are a couple of threads on this chipset, so obviously I am not the only one that needs it. Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I don't have the required tools to compile it. I tried earlier, but it needs the kernel sources, which I lack. I also don't know if pdaXii13 uses the same kernel as Beta 1, which is the 2.4 kernel I have available for compiling with. If Beta 1, or I could flash Beta 3 on my C750 and use that, uses the same kernel as pdaXii13 and somebody could give me or point me to the appropriate kernel source, I would be happy to try to compile it again.

pdaXii13 use the same kernel as beta1/beta3, however, on pdaXrom, the Cxx00 series use 2.4.20 kernel for both beta1 and beta3, whereas the Cxx0 series use 2.4.18 kernel in beta1 and there was an experimental beta3 with 2.4.20 kernel but it was removed....

try this one. its compiled for 2.4.20 kernel, but I had to use the 2.4.18 source to get it to compile, the 2.4.20 source failed to compile, weird...

I copied qemu-i386 from the Sharp 0.6.1 ipk to my /usr/bin/ dir and it seems to run in the console without errors shown in screencap.
I also downloaded opera 8.52 for Linux.
I downloaded the *.tgz version because I wasn't sure which Linux distro to choose on the dropdown list.
I downloaded the "oldest" version shown because I think the newer versions probably have more bloat and I just want to try and run this in pdaxii13.

But now I am stumped as to how to install opera.
Someone, (I think tovarish) mentioned that opera is a static package in post 152 on page 11

I'm not sure what a "static package" means.

I looked inside the opera.tgz (opera-8.52-20060201.6-shared-qt.i386-en.tar.gz) with winrar.
It has 11 directories and a whole lot of files and I'm not sure if unarchiving this on my pdaxii13 setup won't bugger things up.
Does one need to install opera on a desktop Linux PC, then copy it to the Zaurus to get it to run with qemu?
Has anyone tried this?
I think opera could be a good alternative to firefox and dillo. Plus, if it does work, there are versions available up to 9.10

Can libwmf be compiled for pdaxrom?
This is a library that enables *.wmf files to be opened/imported into inkscape

inkscape just opened a drawing that contains 7,899 objects and 305,472 points!
It took about 20 minutes to completely open.
I just had to take a screencap because I'll probably not open this particular file again.
I'm just testing the capabilities of inkscape on a Zaurus.
This would have never come close to opening without swap, my HDD light ran constantly for the full 20 minutes.
As soon as I took the screencap, inkscape shut down.
Notice in the pic, my CPU and memory bars are gone.
They were both maxed when they took a dump.
This library works as an import extension in inkscape.
The install used about 5-6 MB of space.
It includes a lot of documents that I'll move to my hard drive later.

You can probably strip it. I built and packaged it in about 3 minutes, so I didn't bother.

how does one strip an IPK, or should the source be stripped?

I am not sure if this(pysol) needs to be compiled but it does need to be packaged effectively to run on the zaurus. I wonder if the extra python code needed to run it could be put in a seperate package.

I loved playing it when i ran debian on xqt and would like to enjoy in it pdaxrom in all its softvfp glory.
Also if it is possible the latest version of portable puzzles
(http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/puzzles/). There is a new game in it and aslo if possible gtk.c could be modified to run all the games in fullscreen(see function midend_size).
I ported the games to my pocketpc and modifying them to run full screen by default wasnt that difficult.
