I am trying to load my Archos 700 with my DVD collection. I have noticed trying to record straight into it with leads is okay, but every now and again there is a distortion as the file is being read from the HD. So I want to encode my films on a PC first then copy across. I have managed to convert some stuff from DVD as an .avi file using the Xvid codec but I'm now suffering from image artifacts which ruins the image. Is there a sure-fire way of squirting my films into my Archos without any distortions or whatever?

I use "Clone DVD Mobile" from slysoft to do this. It works along with "ANY DVD", also from slysoft. ANY DVD sits active in your system tray and cracks the region coding and protection of any DVD inserted into the PC on the fly.
Clone dvd has a setting for the Archos, which allows you to select what parts of the dvd you want and then captures and saves as a file suitable to play on the archos. You simply then copy the movie file to the Archos using Windows Media Player. Drag and drop doesn't seem to work. I have found the quality good and the sodtware reliable. It comes with a 21 day no restrictions free trial as well, and is available as a pack download. The web address is

Another bonus I have found is that having ANYDVD running in the background allows me to play any region's dvd on the pc.
Hope this helps
