Intel Atom + Poulsbo Motherboard
« on: December 20, 2008, 05:48:02 pm »
may people have netbooks here - eee, aspire - and they are all pretty much the same under the skin. one problem is that whilst the atom CPU is very low power, only 5W, the chipset is pretty power hungry (something glossed over in the reviews). the solution was to be the "poulsbo" chipset which has been slow in coming, but gained the official nomenclature US15W.
I finally found a motherboard you can buy based on this:
http://www.igologic.com/products/Product.aspx?ProductID=78

it would probably be the ideal board for a successor to the Pocket Penguin!

so, I know it's kind of off-topic, but I didn't think anyone would notice it if I posted to there. I'll move/archive this when people have had a chance to see it.

Well, this should be just fine for a device similar to an OQO. That's why I'm more comfortable with a device like the Open Pandora project is about to release (dropping x86 compatability, of course).
