Sharp Rd-9100mp - Larger Z? 5" Display
« on: January 30, 2007, 01:47:12 pm »
Just saw this new Sharp RD-9100MP posted:

http://aving.net/kr/news/default.asp?mode=...ode=01&SP_Num=0

Anyone know about this?

Looks sort of like a larger SL-C3xxx without the swivel screen to use as tablet mode though....

Is this just electronic dictionary only with no Linux OS??

Found some other similar Sharp models like this one too....RD-CX100, etc

Korean market devices??

Probably no-go for us Zsters, but what the heck...

Alas, that is no Korean Z.

They got me all excited as a read

Personal Mobile....Dictionary.      Sharp, it is supposed to say Tool you tools.

That thing is not even close to a  modern Z.  Take a look of what it looks like opened.  Kind of reminds me of 5000 series K-PDA Z's though.

aha, took a while to find, but here it is on reigncom.com site:
[a href=\"http://reigncom.com/eng/business/en_portable03.html]http://reigncom.com/eng/business/en_portable03.html[/url]

iriver D20
4.3" LCD
plays mp3, wma, asf, ogg
voice recorder
FM radio
SD card slot

the D10 is similar but with 4.5" LCD

no specifications on hardware nor details of the OS though.

I think, but I'm not sure, that the 9100MP has already been discussed on the forum. From the pictures it looks like it's a mono display:

yup, it's mono:

isn't this why for the PP there will be an inside screen which will be glorious 24-bit-colour 800x480 in 5", and an external screen which could be a high-vis viewable-in-sunlight 320x240 mono display for maximum battery life when using as a smartphone?

I agree he iRiver does look nice but, the full name of the product is IRiver Dicple D20 which to me is an unfortunate name choice.

Picture this:
Guy 1: "Hey, have you seen my Dicple?"
Guy 2: "Your what!?"
Guy 1: "My Dicple ..."  while he starts to pull it out of his pants pocket.
Guy 2: "No thanks.  I don't swing that way."  and runs away...

If they ever release that unit outside of Korea that name has got go.
