Install Beta1 With U-boot?

In case I'm unable to fix the APM problem r197 is having on my C860, I think I'll give an older version of pdaXrom a try. As the last stable release for the C860, version 1.1.0beta1 is my most likely choice (alternate suggestions welcome).

Now I have already replaced the standard ROM flash utility with u-boot in order to install r197. The Quick Install Guide indicates that u-boot is the install method for version beta4 and later, but can it be used for earlier versions, too?

Can I follow the Quick Install instructions for "pdaXrom Current" and just run the beta1 updater.sh script instead of autoboot.sh? With what arguments?

Should I use the low-level updater (C+D+reboot) instead?

you need to restore the original bootloader using a NAND restore and then flash pdaXrom as documented for beta1

I had difficulty getting the diagnostics menu to do the NAND restore because the OESF wiki page on "secret" key combinations wasn't completely accurate, at least for a C860 with U-Boot loaded.

The pinned thread on dead Zs set me straight, and I have updated the wiki page with what I found.

Yea ... on the 860 teh u-boot stuff overwrites the flash copy of D+M menu ... you can still access the rom version with Fn+D+M.

Another thing concerning u-boot and beta1: technically it is possible but will require quite some work to get it working. Things would be different if developement is made in respect of POSIX compliance :-(.
