Hey no problem. It's nice to know I can give things back to the community

@Capn_Fish: That was going to be my next suggestion

I use the gnome icon set to fill in the blanks. Though there aren't really any in the menu bar - they're all Tango icons for me O_o
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I build the latest pcmanfm optimised for xscale cpu, removed the root user warning, and also removed the "folder from here as root" and "preferences" menu items which crashes pcmanfm.
have fun

[a href=\"http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/custom/pcmanfm_0.3.2.2_armv5tel.ipk]http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/cu....2_armv5tel.ipk[/url]
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=153882\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I compiled and am using pcmanfm for my own purpose. In my case everything is fine even when I use "folder from here as root" and "preferences" menu items. Maybe this is the reasone that I compiled it with r121.

I did not try yours but I will try it.

EDIT: I installed the gnome icon theme and hi-color as shown in the depends and , gamin_0.1.8_armv5tel.ipk, from meanie's feed, but when I launch pcmanfm, there are no icons.
There are no icons in "icons" mode either.
the gnome icons and hi-color icons add up to about 2MB, I really want to use them, since they are taking so much space.
I also restarted X, and the icons still don't appear in pcmanfm.

BTW, with the "Tree view" enabled, it looks just like Tree!Explorer for sharp/cacko, but with all the icons missing.
I really like this setup, but I just need the icons.

It looks like I need some stuff from other icon sets. I should have looked at the .theme file first. Oh, well.

EDIT: Installed gnome-icon-theme, put "gnome" in .gtkrc-2.0, and it works great.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=153834\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I opened .gtkrc-2.0 on my setup (pdaxii13-akita5.3), but there are two WARNINGS in this file that says:
#--THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT

Is there another way to get the icons in pcmanfm, without editing this file?
Hers's a screenie in tree view without icons.

I had the same thing but one line says include /home/me/.gtkrc-mine

so I created this file and added the line there.

The line I added to .gtkrc-2.0 is:

gtk-icon-theme-name="gnome"
SL-C750- pdaXrom beta 1 (mostly unused)
Current distro: Gentoo

I added that to my /home/root/gtrc.mine file, but it had no effect.
I would add it to .gtkrc-2.0, but there are 2 very specific warnings not to edit this file in all caps at the top and the bottom.

No warning in mine. You could try backing up the file, then editing it. Worst case you copy the old one back. If you're REALLY paranoid, you could even do a NAND backup.

As far as I know, those warnings only appear because GTK-switch (or whatever it's called) adds it automatically when it applies a new GTK theme.

I think it's just to ensure that you don't go messing it up and ending up with an unusuable theme ^__^

I have never had any hassle from editing that file directly - and I've been doing it this way for years (on my Debian box too).

That worked.
I thought the icons would be more colorful/descriptive for almost 2MB of space.

Thanks again,

Where is the documentation?
I googled and found the sourceforge site. (features listed only, no documentation)
I googled for the following:
pcmanfm documentation
pcmanfm manual
pcmanfm help
pcmanfm help file
and on and on.
I went to debian and downloaded the source, (pcmanfm_0.3.2.2.orig.tar.gz), opened it and looked for any documents, all I found is a zero byte README.

I want to add mimetypes, but the mimetypes dialog is empty, and none of the functions work.
I tried to add a new type, byt the button does nothing.

This seems to work great for my needs, fast, uncluttered and handy file associating. Only annoyance I have is when deleting files it doesn't seem to refresh the file list so the deleted items are still visible.

Think I'll now uninstall the 10+ other file managers I have

I've really been looking forward to trying pcmanfm on my Z but I've been unable to get it to start. I've installed the GNOME icons and gamin and I have tried putting either

gtk-icon-theme-name="gnome"

or

gtk-icon-theme-name="Tango"

in either of the two different config files mentioned but all I get is the error

Gtk-WARNING **: Screen for GtkWindow not set; you must always set a screen for a GtkWindow before using the window

four times before it segfaults. If I don't include the icon theme name then pcmanfm brings up a warning window before it produces the same error.

I'm running ii13 5.3b

Got it to load!

I took a hint when JJ mentioned Meanies packages so I uninstalled the packages posted above in this thread and installed the Meanie editions instead, which does find the icons when you edit that file to the gnome setting.

As has already been mentioned though, icons remain after you've deleted files- even if you push the refresh button, although they do get deleted - and I haven't been able to make any new file/program associations which is the real showstopper for me.

Saying this, pcmanfm looks really nice and I think I'd prefer it to rox as my file and desktop manager if these things worked properly.

I had a blank page on the Associations settings until I installed this.
(pdaxii13-akita doesn't have this installed by default)
shared-mime-info_0.14_armv5tel.ipk

Now I can see a page full of Associations, but I cannot edit any of them, or add a new association, just like danboid points out.
I would like to edit the Quicktime mimetype to accept *.mp4 in xmms
Also, there are a lot of bogus associations.
CorelDraw!
I cannot even open CorelDraw! images on my cacko zurus using Picsel Browser.
