Cool Clamshell Design - Far Cooler Than The Z

Why do they keep churning out dictionaries in such cool form factors, while the UMPC's  make such atrocious designs ?

Sharp with its Zaurus based dictionaries and now iRiver with this  - damn Asia - they get the goodies and we get monstrosities like the Samsung Q1 or Flipbook or whatever.

Cool Clamshell Design - Far Cooler Than The Z

I know! It's so frustrating! The way I see it, though, is that the Z suits most of my mobile-computing needs, and SSH and a desktop can solve what the Z alone can't do, so I'm in no big hurry to get a new device ( also because my budget is limited ).

I thought we wen't down this road before with tablets: the pure slate ones failed, and the convertables succeeded. If history repeats itself, we'll eventually get a good new platform.

It is a very svelte gadget I must say! And come to think of it ... I almost never use the Z in tablet mode, so the iRiver is a nice design in all.

I can count the number of times I've used the Z in tablet mode on one hand, literally (although I guess I've used it with Xournal a few times).  The one thing I wish the Z had was a mini-touchpad. That way I wouldn't have to get the stylus out just to click on one thing. There would be room right next to the application launch keys...but I guess I'm just dreaming.
Conics SL-C3200 running pdaXrom beta3 and XFCE with a Planex WiFi CF card.

Or the old Libretto setup with the trackpoint on the side of the screen and the mouse buttons on the back.
