Requires Boost?

I'm on a media kick again, tried to compile gnash to watch youtube (since gplflash crashes, or has for a month or two). It complained about "boost," not being available and failed.  is this trivial?  can it be done with relative ease? Is gnash efficient enough for it to be worthwhile on the Z (I'm mostly thinking plugin use)?

Besides, we have to keep up with the iphone, don't we?

Weren't those initial reports of the latest gnash being able to play youtube stuff a misunderstanding?

We do? I thought it's the iPhone that has the catching up to do. Aside from a flashy interface what salient innovation does it really offer?

I suppose I can give it a shot (I'm on vacation, and really should go boating or something)
Care to point me at a preferred source and maybe a hint or two? (inluding packaging for distribution) I'd be happy to compile if it looks like it'll go...

It can watch youtube, supposdly.
as a "serious" piece of technology, it doesn't seem that innovative (except the mutipoint touch screen?)
I'd just rather that there be NOTHING it can do that we can't do on a Z (besides run whatever os it actually runs)

I have used Boost to compile Aleph One. AFAICT, you don't actually have to compile it. Just dowload the source from SF and stick it somewhere. Then add

Code: [Select]
CPPFLAGS="-I/path/to/boost_1_34_1/"
And it should be fine.
SL-C750- pdaXrom beta 1 (mostly unused)
Current distro: Gentoo
