Sun Phoneme Advanced Mr2 Available
« on: June 08, 2007, 08:24:27 am »
Hi all,

I finally had time to build the latest Java phoneME runtime from Sun. The program is installed in /usr/java

To run a demo type:
Code: [Select]
# cd /usr/java
# bin/cvm -cp democlasses.jar personal.DemoFrame

I've added build instructions in the Mobile and Embedded Wiki.

Any way to fix the mime type on this attachent so that it'll download properly in a browser?

Also, it gave me an "Extract of some of the files failed [...]" error.

...just copy the name of the file with your mouse, then right-click & "save link as", then rename index.php to the name of the file by pasting over index.php with the filename.

No that's the pdaXrom builder to build your own toolchain and/or ROM. I used [a href=\"ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/pdaxrom/download/rc12/Zaurus-7x0-860/cross-sdk-armv5tel-cacko-linux-3.4.4-2.2.5-softfloat.tar.bz2]this[/url] one. I've updated the Wiki with the right link

OK thanks.  Will this SDK work for producing apps for my 3200, as the link seems to be for building for the 7x0-860 ?

I downloadedthe .ipk file.
Copied it to my SL-C860.

but, when I try n install it, I get following error, why ? ...

"The extract of some files are failed.
This application may not execute
normally.
When you cannot operate the
application, please remove it."

I am guessing that nothing has been really installed on my zaurus.
I see this particular program in the install list though.
What is wrong ? How do I fix it ?

please advise.

Strange, I just tried on my "new" SL-C1000. Works just fine. Is there enough space left on your 860 for installation?

This might be the issue. df -h shows that /home has 44.6M (total 68.0M) and / (/dev/root) has only 3.3M free (total 53.0M). So, since the cvm is installed in /usr/java it might be running out of space.

Option 1] Can I install this in a custom location ?
Option 2] If I were to delete something from /, please suggest.
I looked through /usr and QtPalmtop.rom directory is 77MB. However df -h shows that total of / is 53.0M. Can someone explain that to me ?

Thanks for your advise.

1. Yes you can. You can also select the SD or CF in the package manager of course, which might be a better option.
2. Look in /usr/bin, move some large binaries to SD or CF and symlink them. Also, I used to move the Abiword dictionary to SD, which is quite large

I am not able to any of this done to make some room on /.
While installing if I select SD, then the installer complains that the program must be installed in main memory.
Most of the stuff in / seems to be read-only filesystem, so, nothing can be done there.

There is some space in home, but it seems the install needs the required space in /usr/java ONLY.
I am now thinking on compiling on my on, So, the SDK will make binaries for C860 as well, I hope. Correct me If I am wrong ?

any other ideas ?
