Login Timeout
« on: July 30, 2008, 02:53:23 am »
When I'm editing pages on the wiki my login session often times out after a short time. This short time is not usually long enough to finish editing. Sometimes I've barely logged in and I find my session has already expired.

Can we extend the time limit please ?

Sorry for not noticing your post.

Any suggestion on how long the logon expiry should be set to, or what's the maximum time you'll need to edit an article?

I know that having a session expire in the middle of an edit is one of the biggest frustrations working on a wiki. On the other hand, the session timeout is supposed to reduce the chance bogus edits when a registered user has left their terminal unattended.

Assuming the likelihood of the latter is small, I will try setting the session timeout to 15 minutes unless there is a better suggestion.

That should be ample, thanks!

Sorry, but I've not been able to find anything helpful on this issue. All of our configuration parameters that look like they might have a part to play in login expiration are all set at their hour-or-longer defaults.

Do you check "Remember my login on this computer" when you log-in? If not, it may help.

Can you give me any more details on this problem? How frequently is your session dying? How long can you edit before losing your session? Etc.
