Okay,

So today board statistics say: "19 guests, 11 members, 1 anonymous members "

Yesterday (and every time I peak in) was about the same, but there are pretty much no new posts beyond the occasional one every month or so.

So I don't get it... I mean if there are more or less about 20 people on the board on a given day, and even half are guests, how come so few posts?

I realize that this is an older device and there are often about 50% guests browsing, but I have seen more activity on really vintage sites (like Tandy, Amiga, etc).

Anyone got an idea what's up?

Also, if you're here and reading this, post a reply just as a shout-out... at least passerbys will feel posting is worthwhile (since there is an audience).

Just my 2 cents.

And yeah, I been away a long time as well, not blaming people for that, just lost as to why there seem to be users but no posts or conversations.

I visit the forum mostly everyday just to check if there are any new messages.  It takes less than a minute but my session is probably valid for 30 minutes I guess.  I think the other users that you see are probably just checking new messages like I do.  Of course, some of them must also be there to look for info I assume but maybe not that many.

I visit the forum almost every day to have a quick look for what's new.

Instead of being annoyed at the lack of action, why don't you do something about it yourself ? You're complaining that people visit but don't post and you're guilty of it!

I still browse around twice a week just to see if anything new is happening.  Time hasn't permitted for much play time with the old Zaurus unfortunately.

Sorry, I feel a little guilty: whenever I check in I usually just hit the "View new posts" button, as I feel I have read most of what I want to read in the past.
Still use a site specific search though, from time to time.
Really lament the loss of Zaurus-specific websites, and various feeds/repositories.

No, I wasn't complaining, I was just confused how there could be 20 people online nearly every time I logon, but no new messages.  Even right now there are over 20 people online (though 90% are guests at this late hour in the USA).

And actually posting the title the way I did was somewhat of an at attempt to remedy that a little bit (ie: doing something about it)....hey at least there is a post this month ;-)

Seriously, sorry if I sounded like I was complaining, I simply wanted to stir the pot a little bit and see if anyone was around.

Thanks everyone for the posts... and hey, if your a old time user or a passerby lurking, take a second to register (or recover your password) and say hello...

It's always good to chat with past, present, future users of the sharps, archos, and other short-date vintage stuff.   And I use the term vintage very loosely, as I believe the Zauruses(Zaurii) and Archoses (Archosi?) are busily at work behind the scenes doing all the 3D special effects for the Transformer 5 movie...I mean that is just how far ahead of their time they are...

I think it was it Neo that said "The Zaurii dish 'em out and the Archosi play them back, dude."

You know, in that scene right before they started fighting in the telephone booth as it flew through time...  'Cause Morpheus hated to be called "Dude".

Hey, I agree with you in principle. I think the best solution is 1. do something with your Zaurus, 2. post about it, 3. start a discussion.

I think the Zaurus community is a bit like an iceberg. On the surface, very small. Under water, many people are doing useful and interesting things.

I'm also one of the "hit View New Posts daily" people, don't usually have anything to write about though.

Anonymous visitors are often search engine bots, not real people.

Edit: Looking at the active users over the last days, most of those are newly registered and "validating" and have names like spambots.

I check once or twice a week for new posts. The rest of the time I just use my Z - mostly just as a diary & address book. [sigh] What a waste of technology!

I also come here and check the latest messages once a week.

saddly, my Zaurus has been in a drawer for many months.   Lately,  I've been thinking into turning it into a torrent downloading machine,  will post about it when I start.

Hey, we're up to 8 semi-"regulars" for the forum, so that ain't too bad...

Or should that be "irregulars"?  j/k

Just checking in, I also lurk about.
I still have my SL-C1000 and SL-5000, but they are gathering dust (not realy, they're tucked away) to make way for the ever evolving technology.

I also pop in very occasionally to see if anything is new. I still have the zaurus, but it is currently collecting dust. Trying to figure out what to do with it. I've installed most of the distros on it at one time or another. I could try OpenBSD, or go back to Debian. A server might be interesting. Maybe many of us don't have a lot of fresh ideas and we are waiting for someone to come up with one, so we can blow of the dust and rekindle some of the past excitement.

Not all the Guests are spambots.  I often visit without logging in, so look like a Guest.  I was shocked to see how long since I last logged in, when I actually had to log in to post the other day.

For me, my Zaurus was and still is my only computer, so I am always using it, but have been busy with other things with my life.

But my web server started charging for my previously free Zaurus site, and I could not bear to let all that work go down the drain, so I upgraded to a paid status and have been busy sprucing things up there.

There have been discussions before about decline in posts.  Most of us still using these critters have settled in and do not need as much help as back in the beginning.
