Title says it all.
Which ROM do you use and WHY do you use it over the other?

--this is not a why should I use A vs B ..but rather what do you like most about the version you use.

I am slowly making the transition to pdaXrom, because if you look at a C series, it looks like a tiny laptop. So I want to use it as such, a small UNIX laptop, full X windows, development tools and all the other delights like GIMP. I like it because it feels like a Linux laptop.

Although I still really like Cacko QT ROM too, I am still testing whether Maslovsky\'s ROM and X/Qt is faster for my needs.  Unfair question, it\'s all good, and I want to run it all!
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

I\'m finding now that I have active projects at work, I\'ve had to stick with the cacko qt rom.  We use Outlook/Win2k at work, so the seamless syncing between the Z and Outlook is nice throughout the busy day.  It\'s really no fuss.  I\'m finding that I\'m using my 760 more and more as a pda at work, and as a mini laptop while away from work (ebook reading, ssh into servers, email, web browsing, etc.)

Though I fear with the pdaxrom development continuing at it\'s current pace, soon the differences in syncing and other basic pda tasks will be less between the two roms, which will make the decision even harder.

I use both. At present, I play more with pdaXrom because it is new and because it transforms my PDA into a full 400mhz mini laptop.
Applications are as fast as on Cacko and some are more powerful because they come from Desktop Linux. I was surprised to see that my wireless D-Link card could be so easily configured.

If I have time, I will perhaps try to build a Qtopia Tab like extention for Matchbox.

I\'ve voted in that poll but I hardly think it\'s fair, there are so many other Sharp Cxx0 ROM\'s to take a look at. There should have at least been an \"other..\" option in the poll

pdaXrom has a lot of potential. If only I had the time to install and configure it for everyday use... In my case, this means installation of a full-featured PIM application (KO/PI is perfect, but I need an addressbook too), a webbrowser and a few addictive games. I wasn\'t able to setup my wireless connection last time I tried pdaXrom, but that would also be essential for the ocassional browsing and emailing. If only I could manage to setup a full-blown development environment, including a Java AND pascal (yes pascal) compiler. That would make my choice easier.... but for now, I keep using QT.

I gave it a try, I used it on my 5500, but on my 860 it is bare of all applications, the only apps I can find are old 5500 apps and that felt like a downgrade. Pretty ROM though, if Maslovsky\'s ROM had the \'ooooh factor\' of the tkcROM and a X server, it would be the ultimate ROM.

Plus I get the feeling tkcROM is not really being actively worked on, just a feeling though...

Dual booting Sharp Standard Qtopia rom with pdX and Cacko 1.21 from SD.

tkcRom was great, but now that proto\'s feed has evaporated there is no way to get the apps you need. So I\'ve taken some icons etc from there and from the Cacko rom and mixing them with some other stuff kicking around to make the rom I want/need.

May try to make a Cacko-J version for those people that need/want Japanese support.

There are still more ROMs, there was a wiki put up somewhere which listed all known ROMs. If someone can remember the url then I\'d use that. There will be quite a few though, I don\'t know how many options the software here can take.

reference the rom list link from zaurus.spy.org

I use cacko qt on 700, pdaxrom on the 760 and oz 3.3.6-pre1 on 5600.
