Android (v1.0) firmware now available for download - rooting time?

The Linux Support page has been updated - you can now download the following items:

- Flashing tool
- Flashing tool drivers
- Android firmware v1.0
- Debian firmware

The .zip features system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, ramdisk.img & cache.img files.
Time to break out the .img extracting applications and see if we can root this!

There was no need to further the rooting process, as PC has released a pre-rooted boot image.
Replace the image with the rooted 'boot-verified.img' in the Android firmware before flashing, and you should be rooted.

What is the use of a rooting app on an already rooted Android install? Are there specific root permissions that still need to be se? I’m asking this since I have once rooted my phone, and noticed that a rooting app was installed and running all the time, I have been always wondering what was its purpose.

On the rooted phone you still need permission handling. The su app gives you a nice popup whenever an app requests root privileges. Then you can decide to accept/deny/accept always/accept for a specific time.

What su permissions handling app does everyone recommend?  I followed all the steps to flash the rooted image but I have a suspicion it did not take.  Thanks!

Edit: SuperSU and other similar apps were not working, but I realized I didn't go far enough with Magisk on my first try with it.

If you download the apk from http://tiny.cc/latestmanager (instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magis...emless-t3473445

then let it update itself (twice, in my case, up to v16)

Then do the 'install' at the bottom of the magisk manager app, let it do its thing, then reboot.

Now root is working for me, can run su in termux, etc.

Thank you for mentioning magisk, paulx.  My own fault for not going far enough with it on my first try.
