Warranty Service by www.japan-direct.com
« on: April 21, 2004, 11:11:32 am »
I\'m considering the purchase of a C680 from www.japan-direct.com $699 US.  This site\'s price is in the same ballpark as Amazon Japan.  There are many happy customer letters posted to their site speaking to the company\'s greatness with regard to orders and delivery.  However, there is a dearth of comments on their reliability when it comes to acting as agent to service the 1 year domestic warranty.

Does anyone have experience with warranty service for products purchased at www.japan-direct.com?

Is anybody particularly happy or displeased with their interaction with this company?

Thanks.  -usagi4- (Boulder, CO)

I\'m in the market for a C760 or 860 and am considering a couple of the Japan sellers.  I guess the real question is how likely is it that I would have a problem with the Z in the first 12 months, and need repair or return?  If the likelyhood is very small, then any of these less expensive vendors or even ebay would be fine.  But if there are enough problems reported w/in the first year needing service, then Dynamism is the way to go (they will come down a bit in price from what I\'ve read).

Anyone have a problem with theirs in the first 12 mo?? :?:  :?:

Yep, i had to return mine after about 4 months cause there was some problem with the hinge, I could only get sound (earphones and internal speaker) when the C760 had the screen closed or flipped and folded over the keyboard - opening the screen caused sound to stop.

Took it into BicCamera (I have a 3 year extended warranty withthrough them ) and they sent it off to Sharp in Tokyo. Took 2 weeks to get it back and the paperwork that came with it said they had replaced the \"unit\". No probs since then.
