unlocking the screen?
« on: June 23, 2018, 05:51:01 pm »
I seem to be stuck with the G only showing the date and time, a dialler if I swipe left, wallpaper choice if I swipe down, and camera if I swipe up.

can't seem to do anything else.

Is this with the Planetcom triple boot image?
When you ran the installation on the first boot, did it start from the welcome and language selection screen or did the PIN keypad show at the beginning?
(Upper vs. lower image on the Sailfish OS notes page: "... as otherwise the setup configuration is known to not complete properly.")

yes, this was a fresh install of the triple-boot from Planet.

I did have problems completing the setup, some of the guides went round more than once before I could complete them.

Are you sure that's a dialler when you swipe left? There's usually a PIN unlock page there if you set a lock code.

If you're not sure whether you started configuration from the language screen or the PIN / dialer, then I would suggest to flash Sailfish again to be sure you start from the right screen.
Remember: if the initial screen is black, try to unlock it with a double-tap into the welcome and language selection page. If you can unlock only with the ESC key into the dialer, you're in the wrong screen and need to re-boot.
See the images on the Sailfish OS notes page http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Sailfish_OS_Notes

In my final, successful configuration, I did not skip anything (i.e. I did set-up WIFI and Jolla Account and did complete the tutorial). At first I skipped e.g. the tutorial and Wifi. Not sure whether this really had an influence.

Regards,
Dietmar

You did not start the setup process by selecting a language, I'm guessing.
I had the same issue, turns out your device cannot be unlocked when you don't get the 'Select a language'-screen.

FIX:
1) Reflash linux.img and salfishos_boot.img
2) Boot into Sailfish, hold device in portrait mode ('Esc'-button on bottom)
3) Wait a few seconds for screen to go black, hit 'Fn + Esc' (power combo)
4) It should now show the 'Select a language screen'.
5) Start setup from there, it will boot into Sailfish OS afterwards.

Lockscreen might still be a revolving circle, but it will be dismissable by swiping from the left.

I have to keep device in portrait until end of tutorial and then swiping from the left to unlock device.
But still, no mobile functions available. Or even settings. Are those removed from the image? Can't use this as a phone .

I also had trouble getting it running. But after numerous (4 or 5) reflashes of the linux.img and sailfish_boot.img partitions, I finally got it to correctly go through the setup process, and now it boots sailfish just fine. There is some bug involved that is not as easily diagnosed as seems to be implied by various posts that I've seen, but I did eventually get past it, with enough determination.

At first boot, had the situation where after selecting language it went to the PIN screen. As per instructions, I restarted. This time I got to the Sailfish screen with the photo of origami bird and time/date.

If I swipe down from the top, I get the wallpaper selection screen.

If I swipe up from bottom, get the video cam.

But if I swipe either from left or right edge moving horizontally to the center nothing happens.

Am I doing something wrong or do I need to re-flash or ?

Thanks!

I just installed the tripple boot and was problem free. I think the main thing is don't select a pin code. Hit skip, then go through all the setup and tutorial stuff (in portrait). I applied meganerds fix for rotation in the qml file and all was good. Reflashing doesn't take long, so start from scratch.

Good luck.
PS posted from sailfish - really happy with it so far.

Thanks for your detaile input and help!

I did not select a pin code....what I read was to restart Gemini if you got the pin code screen.

I will try what you did, to hit skip and go through the other setup stuff and see if that works. Otherwise, I will re-flash...

Tried rebooting, doesn’t boot to the pin screen anymore. So, can’t hit skip and complete setup. I boot to the Sailfish screen with photo wallpaper.

Guess it’s re-flash time.,,,
