android app for a serial terminal
« on: June 29, 2018, 06:04:13 am »
I was wondering if anyone had a particular recommendation for an android app which will turn my G into a serial console (perhaps with VT100 style emulation, as well as raw serial IO).

I've got an OTG adaptor and a USB serial dongle to test out.

If nobody has such a thing, I'll try this out and update here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...al_usb_terminal

Thanks
Paul

that program works, but it's not quite what I expected.

I tested with both a prolific and ftdi serial adaptor and both worked fine.

p.s. this is with stock Gemini Android, not rooted.

I'm not sure if it's me but my right hand USB port doesn't work in On The Go mode, I can't plug in a USB-C to USB-A adaptor and connect hubs, keyboards or mice.

Works abit odd on my Gemini as well. I have adaptors that don't work at all, but with the working adaptors I have to flip over the adaper with some devices. Though with USB-C it shouldn't matter which way you plug it in - and for genuine USB-C-gizzmos this seems to be true - , but some adaptors aparently only work when plugged in one way and don't when plugged in the other way.

Kind regards

not tied on the Gemini yet but with my old tablet I have used I have used
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...sbterminal.free
to succesfully connect to Arduino's  over the USB - this has worked reliably many times with several different devices

Using an unbranded USB to RS-232 adaptor I have had limited success communicating with various data loggers some work, some don't  but as the adaptor does not work 100% on the PC either I'm uncertain if this is the program or the adaptor...
