Despite the chunkiness I really like it... Still pocketable (just), screen resolution good for my old eyes, in and out of sleep quick enough to be close to always on, great battery life for full day's usage, etc.

Interesting. I like the comparison with the Zaurus.
How is the keyboard and overall performance ?
Gemini-PDA (Stock Android) / LG Nexus 5 (Sailfish OS) / Nokia N9 (MeeGo/Harmattan)
Sharp Zaurus C3100 (Borzoi) - Void Linux (voidz) Kernel 5.0.0 - Hardware (Buffalo CF LAN, DLink 660 CF WiFi, ASIX AX88772 USB Ethernet)

Keyboard - not as good as the Zaurus, better than the Gemini... Not touchscreen but the layout of track pad on right and mouse keys on left works very well. A few keyboard things to 'retrain' - switching from Gemini means changed position for comma, dash, plus; number keys split into two rows vs. one; etc. Nothing major.  Overall, I'm surprised that i like it as much as I do (even carrying around in my pocket...)

Staying within context of ye olde world of handheld computers--Psion, WinCE, etc--I wrote a review of my GPD MicroPC:

Thanks, nice review.

The device is quite tempting. Darn,  I missed the special AliExpress offer for $349 USD..
I will keep an eye out for future offers in this price range.

Many thanks.

Yeah, given your machine and your fine work on small Linux devices, the MicroPC would give you a ton of fun.

I got one last year and installed the latest Manjaro XFCE on it. It works very well after you set display-setup-script to xrandr -o right in file /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.
Sharp Zaurus C3100 (Borzoi) running Arch Linux ARM.
GPD MicroPC running Manjaro XFCE.
