It is not that different from the community edition, but I like to show my support, and to stay in the loop

Well, it's different in that it has Alien Dalvik, msft exchange support, and predictive text. Otherwise not much different. I got an Xperia X specifically so I could use Sailfish X. After I sorted out a native ProtonMail kludge I deleted the Alien Dalvik stuff. I never used the exchange compatability. So I paid $60 for predictive text, which is nice, though I do not know if it is $60 nice.

The advantage of Sailfish X, to me, is that Jolla says it will be supported onthe device forever. Though there are already cracks here -- some versions of Alien Dalvik, for instance, are supported on newly added devices only, with no plan to provide them on the others. This limits the Android support, which is of concern to those who want to run Android apps but not Android itself.
dep

Atari Portfolio (yes, it still works and yes, I bought it new)
Libretto 110 CT (with docking station and all kinds of PCMCIA stuff)
And, now, a Gemini and, fortunately, a GPD Pocket

well, it does have Microsoft exchange, but there is no predictive text nor android app support (at least that is what they listed on their comparison matrix here: https://jolla.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/0...219.jpeg?x54860  from https://jolla.com/sailfishx/ )

PLANET COMPUTERS AND JOLLA LAUNCH SAILFISH X FOR GEMINI PDA
• The official Sailfish X now available for Gemini PDA
• Meet Planet Computers at MWC: Hall 7, stand 7K40
• Support Planet’s new Cosmo Communicator on Indiegogo:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/cosmo-communicator#/
Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, 26th February 2019: Planet Computers and Jolla
jointly announce the availability of the official version of Sailfish X for the Gemini PDA.
Sailfish X is a downloadable version of Sailfish OS, the popular alternative mobile operating system. The Sailfish community offering is now extended to include a fully supported version of the Linux-based Sailfish OS for the Gemini PDA.
The official Sailfish X software package features a suite of advanced functions, including seamless over-the-air (OTA) OS updates, Jolla Store access, end-user support, Microsoft Exchange support and, crucially for Gemini users, support for landscape user-interface (UI). The cost of Sailfish X for Gemini is €29.90 (incl. VAT) and it is currently available for customers within the EU, Norway & Switzerland.
One of the most popular Indiegogo projects of 2017-2018, raising more than $2.5 million, Gemini re-imagines the PDA in a clamshell mobile device with a fully functioning physical keyboard and a large (5.99 inch) multi-touch colour display. Gemini enables users to type emails, blogs and social media posts easily on the go.
Dr Janko Mrsic-Flogel, CEO of Planet Computers, comments: “The decision to offer Sailfish OS on the Gemini came about following strong demand from both the Gemini and Jolla communities. The Sailfish device family is joined by the Gemini PDA with its fully- integrated multi-lingual keyboard. This provides Sailfish users with an all-in-one mobile device to type and create on the move.”
Sami Pienima?ki, CEO of Jolla, says: "We have been excited to see Planet Computers’ offering to take off so well with already a second successful PDA device crowdfunding campaign, the Cosmo Communicator. We are delighted to extend our community offering, Sailfish X, to officially support Gemini PDA devices. This is a perfect example of a community collaboration, which has been developed further and now productized. We're looking forward to continuing our collaboration with Planet in their upcoming devices."

I did the same, I have used Sailfish OS from version 1. But Android support is mandatory to me, so I have to boot to Android every now and then.

But there is a problem: Official Sailfish OS is available for the default (boot 1) option only. That's good, but I have setup where Android is 1st and Sailfish was 2nd boot, as there was no any other choice until today.

I don't want to delete my Android partition, so is there any way to use existing order and keep Android untouched?

So let me get this absolutely straight - there is no android app support? So I'm paying 30 euros for Microsoft exchange support? Don't get me wrong I'm happy to support them but what a funking anticlimax.

I'm pleased this has happened and will be watching the reviews carefully. Currently I am having problems with SMTP on Sailfish Community for Gemini and want to see that solved before I move on.

I'm not that bothered about Android apps on Sailfish, I think everything I need is covered by Jolla apps (or would be if I could send email). The only non Jolla app I have used is terminal.

Does anyone know if the flashing method is the same as for the Sailfish downloaded from Planet?

In particular the partition tool choices and the use of the extra sailfish files?

Thanks.

There is a 20 min podcast about the release from a sailfish enthusiast here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLezKMqhS6A

I think this is somewhat comparable to comments in this thread.

you can download it from this link: http://shop.jolla.com/downloads

It does look like http://support.planetcom.co.uk/partitionTool.html changed a bit.

I tried to install it using an old boot scatter file, and it works fine, but I am experiencing a different problem though: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35739

Thanks, yes if you choose Commercial Sailfish from on the partition tool then the button sends you out to the Jolla shop - there are extra files to go into the image folder. I've installed it but it hasn't solved my email sending problem unfortunately. I've followed up your debian question, not much help though.

I got the following files in my zip folder from jolla:
83ca3b71e7b6afd3444bbbf0bfc6d4a6  sailfishos-hw-release
7c258c847eb97d96a7ce8a22ebf821d0  sailfishos_boot.img
48455db0566e7cae9b76d2d003cb7d6d  sailfishos_recovery.img
0789abf5098c8d50ecd34cc313c2139d  sailfishos-release
91b781e63ca2b10496378a8b9ea76fb9  linux.img

I only flashed linux.img && sailfishos_boot.img as they were the ones needed from my old scatter file

(thanks for input with the debian problem!!)

I have bought Sailfish X (3.0.2.8) for Gemini, but there is no Android app support?

Only difference is M$ Exchange support (I hate that )

When we will get Android support? It looks like it is available on Sony XA2
