Forgotton Privacy Pin
« on: June 12, 2020, 07:58:28 pm »
The first thing I did on getting my Cosmo was to set a privacy PIN. The next thing I did was realize the PIN was not what I thought it was and so no cannot get the cosmo to work. I have no data on it so doing something that deletes everything would not be a problem. Any suggestions?

Hook it up via usb.

Unlock bootloader (Wipes data).

Relock bootloader again (or not, if you prefer).

Not sure what you mean. I tried going to http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/C...al_Installation to get the setup screen and tried “Reboot to bootloader”.  All I got was a blank screen with “=> FASTBOOT mode. . .” at the bottom. I was eventually able to turn the machine off, but still couldn’t get anywhere. Even a reset to factory settings didn’t help.

If you are able to get to the recovery screen, shouldn't the option for "Wipe Data/Factory reset" be enough?

[/size]One would have thought so, but, alas, not. I tried that and then rebooted. It still wants the *** PIN. (Possibly an anti theft measure.) I see a return to Hong Kong in my Como’s future.

Maybe https://www.digiconceptng.com/dir/blog/ways...ock-anti-theft/ would help you. I have no idea if the GSM Aladdin method works here. It claims to support Mediatek chips.

Thanks. Alas, no success. The program would not connect with the cosmo.

Yeah, I encountered the same issue when I bought my Cosmo second hand. Had to contact the seller for the anti-theft code, which he gave me. Even after a factory reset this anti theft code stays 'active'. Which is what it is supposed to do, but quite a problem if you just forget the code.

Maybe flashing the full image at https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...st&p=294205 with sp_flashtool would work?

Essentially, is the privacy PIN stored somewhere on the flash drive or is it part of whatever crypto chip...

Where do I find the flashtool. The one I could see on the Planet site seemed to work only with the Gemini. None of the downloads in the post you mentioned that had the images and other files had the necessary txt file to work with the Cosmo. Could you point me to the URL?

Umm..https://spflashtool.com/ - if you use Windows version, you need the Android drivers from Google.

Apologies for the delayed reply. OESF can use only IPV4 connections and most of the time MY ISP assigns me an IPV6 one.

I get invalid scatter file format when I try to use this. Does anyone here know how to contact Planet Tech Support? I am willing to pay shipping both ways to send it back and get them to reset it but cannot find any way to get in touch with then. I have tried the indigo site and the planet web site but have not had any luck.

Get the scatterfile from https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...st&p=292916

Thanks for your help.

Having downloaded the scatter file and placed it with the downloaded images files, I went ahead and tried the download function on the SPF tool. Download only worked, but still left the Cosmo locked. “Format All + Download” and “Upgrade” both gave me a Partition[preloader] No image file Exist!” message even though there is a preloader.img file in the directory.
