SL-C1000 Internet Connection with wired and wireless CF cards
« on: September 17, 2021, 11:21:43 pm »
Hi all,

I recently acquired a Sharp SL-C1000, and after much trouble,
I was able to flash the ROM to Cacko 1.23 ROM, and update the
SDHC drivers to recognize a 32GB SDHC card now.

The next thing to deal with is internet connection, and I also acquired
a few wifi and LAN CF cards from Japan:

(i)  Planex Communications CF-10T CF Ethernet adapter card
(ii) Planex Communications GW-CF54G 54Mbps wireless CF adapter
(iii) Buffalo Airstation WLI2-CF-S11 2.4GHz/11Mbps wifi CF Card

However, none of them seem to work.

Does anybody has experience using the above network cards and
set up the connection via wifi or LAN ?

BTW, what browser are you used?
The Netfront browser looks very old.......

Thanks!

In addition, CACKO 1.23 comes with old WEP encrypted wifi authentication?

Do you know how to add WPA authentication into the wifi connection?

Searching on the web, I found some WPA_Supplicant info., but it
doesn't work.

Thanks!

Good to hear that you have managed to have a working SD card under Cacko. Did you just found a compatible one, or was it enough to tweak the SD card driver?

I believe Cacko supports the insecure WPA protocol only (via the included wpa_suppicant), but not the currently used wpa2 protocol. You might want to give pdaxrom a try, I believe it supports wpa2 connections and more recent browsers such as dillo. Still, it would be great to have a new version of Cacko after all these years, with all the packages updated.

Hi Varti,

i just followed your instruction to delete all partitions on the SD card,
and format the 32GB Sandisk SD card with FAT32, plug it in, and voila,
it was recognized right the way.

BTW, do you have the cheatsheet to install pdaxroms ?

Thanks!

Here's a mirror of pdaXrom's installation guide on archive.org (hope to have this mirrored here someday):

https://web.archive.org/web/20071018010738/http://www.pdaxrom.org/?q=docs/installation/quickguide

The releases follow this chronological order: beta1, 3, 4 (all based on kernel 2.4), r121, r197 and r198 (all based on kernel 2.6), so r198 is the latest one. In the installation guide, "pdaXrom Current" is beta4 and all the later releases, "Legacy" are beta 1/2/3.

Here are all the downloads:
