Cross-Compile or Reverse Engineer... x86 to Zaurus?
« on: May 07, 2004, 02:24:32 pm »
I\'ve been looking for x86 emulators, but maybe I\'m heading down the wrong path.  Instead, is there a kit that will cross-compile an existing x86 DOS executable to the Zaurus QTopia?  Or... is there a way to reverse engineer the exectuble to the C++ code and then compile it on the Zaurus?

I\'m thinking this could be complicated, since I assume most executables use DOS (or Windows) handles and commands.  So... to cross-compile a DOS x86 executable you would have to cross-compile the executable AND DOS itself.

Hm... maybe this is a dead end.

I\'m new to Zaurus porting and compiling.  I searched for this topic in the existing forums but couldn\'t find this.  Has this been discussed before?  Any information or success stories?

I have a simple DOS ASCII-based executble that reads an old absolete file format which I would love to get working on the Zaurus.

Big dead end.  Stick to emulation.  Unless you have the originall source code to the application, then it\'s merely a large amount of work.
