refreshing the desktop?
« on: May 30, 2004, 11:58:54 pm »
is there a way to refresh the openbox desktop without restarting X11?

I\'ve compiled X Desktop Calendar for pdaXrom, but you can\'t actually see the calendar unless you open something like aterm and move it over the area on the desktop where the calendar loads.  Once you do this you can close aterm adn the calendar will sit on the desktop.. looks pretty nice

Would refreshing the desktop after the calendar loads keep me from having to do this?

If anybody wants to help test this you can get the ipk here:

I think you need to get the window that represents the desktop, presumably via the WM API, and send it an event to refresh.
