I don't know why but myPDA-Zaurus-Edition main web page gives me the impression of Windows/Mac prison so I haven't test it.

Oh - did you really have to reflash? And a hard-reset was not sufficient?
That would be a serious issue we have to adress with high priority.

Which kernel and Zaurus model did you use?

What do you exactly mean with that? Style? Layout? Fonts? Colors? Wordings?

And what changes would you expect to feel "freedom"?

I am a little confused: Is KA/PI already available for the Z?

http://www.pi-sync.net tells:
The current state is: Just started to make it platform-independent.
Estimation of availability: End of 2004

This is the kind of thing not always very easy to understand for me without thinking a lot. I will try to explain.

Part of it is due to Style Layout Fonts Colors and Wordings. Another part if because the site doesn't give me the impression that it's open source. Sreenshots don't give me the feeling like doing the install. Last but not least, I had the feeling that if I use it, I could fall into troubles.

The wordings give me the impression that this project try to catch me like a fish.

It's just what I feel when looking the site. It's suggestive. I'm not giving any suggestion to improve it thougth.

Amrein,

Ok. I have transformed your last sentence to be nicer:

In France we have this set phrase: "On attrape pas des mouches avec du vinaigre".
It should translate like this: "You can't catch fly with vinegar".

I don't think he was being rude Amrein, but I think you are.

We too have a saying: You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

You should be more careful with your words as not to cause potential offence through sarcasm.

dhns, I have no requirement for this software, but I'd be interested to test it on my C860 and I appreciate the project's goals and intentions from an academic point of view, kudos to you.

I was using special kernel v14a (currently using v15) from http://tetsu.homelinux.org/zaurus/kernel/ with a C760. Other than the kerenel and removal of the qm files to give English menus it pretty much a stock C760. Although I have been installing/removing a lot of packages recently while testing.

The package installed without error but when I rebooted it crashed, rebooted hung again at the gui. Was able to ssh into the machine and remove the package but qtopia would not start again even after reboot.

When I get some time to tinker I'll try again and take note of the error messages

The questions/responses have not been meant to be rude in any way. I am just honestly interested in your opinions how to improve it.
