Invalid magic???
« on: July 13, 2004, 10:50:26 pm »
Ok I'm trying to install lipcap on my sd card.

Enter "ipkg install -force-depends -dest sd libpcap*" and I get the message "invalid magic". I get this when I try to install half the programs.

What does this message mean? Did I forget to add eyeofnewt.com to resolv.conf?

Help please!

It's an error to do with tar (or gunzip, not sure which) not liking the file you're trying to extract.

Probably because the ipk is actually an ar file.

Hmm, well I tried ar -x libglib* and got

"ar: invalid ar magic"

Any other tips? This is getting very frustrating.

Your file is possibly corrupt. Did you try downloading it again?
