ROM upgrade ->connection trouble
« on: August 10, 2004, 02:26:42 pm »
Hi,
I have updated the ROM from the original to 3.1 (latest on myzaurus.com) on my Zaurus 5500. I did everything according to the script, step by step and encounted no problem. However, after the Zaurus rebooted (success, no problem reported) with the new ROM, it can't communicate with the PC. I have a 2-CPU Dell Precision 530, Win2K Pro, craddle conected to USB. Device manager indicates no conflicts, all working properly. When Zaurus is on, the USB shows the device present (on the taskbar), but neither FileTransfer nor Qtopia nor Zaurus itself can connect. The second trouble is that I was using my wireless card (Linksys) to connect right before the RAM update, but now I can't make a wireless connection either. Mild measures, such as reboot and reinstall make no effect. It looks to me that there is nothing wrong with my PC or wireless, but something is terribly wron with the ROM itself. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andre

Did you also install the SL-5500 v3 Upgrade PC Software for MS Windows? I think its neccessary with the new ROM.

Sorry. Can't help with the wireless part but its probably a config problem.

Yes,
I did all software and driver installations according to the instructions provided on myzaurus.com There was apparantly no problem until I tried to start FileTransfer utility.
