SL-Cxxx model differences
« on: August 18, 2004, 05:46:23 pm »
Hi,

I didn't find an exact posting regarding this when I searched, but I may have missed it and if so apologize in advance.

I'm trying to find out the differences between the C700, C750, C760 and C860.  I'm looking to upgrade from my SL5500 and prefer the shape over the new SL6000 (too expensive).  For example, CPU, memory, screen (quality differences), etc.  Is it worth getting a C700 for the lower price?  Can it run pdaXrom?

My brother should be coming back from japan to visit next month so I'll ask him to pick one up for me.

Thanks,
Anil..

Check out http://zaurus.spy.org/. They have a neat table that describes the specs of all Zaurus models.

Here is a quick look:
Quote
C700
Intel XScale PXA250 400 Mhz (flawed that runs on half speed) processor, 32/64 ROM/Flash, 640x480 swivel display

C750
Intel XScale PXA255 400 Mhz processor, 64/64 ROM/Flash, 640x480 swivel display

C760
Intel XScale PXA255 400 Mhz processor, 64/128 ROM/Flash, 640x480 swivel display, Bigger 8hr battery

C860
Same as C760 + "USB hard drive implementation"
Earlier C700s came with a flawed XScale processor that made the apps to run on half the speed. I read some where here that there is a kernel update to correct that behavior. Not sure though.
