Browser-based Java Games
« on: September 15, 2004, 11:00:52 am »
Is it possible to play java-based games in the Opera browser? For example, I would like to be able to play some of my favorite Yahoo games. When I attempt to run any of them (i.e. yahoo gin, yahoo towers) I just get a blank screen with the yahoo banner at the top saying (loading applet.. please wait 3 minutes)

Java applets currently cannot be displayed from within Opera. Someone will have to write a plugin to do that.

You can however launch a simple page with a Java applet using the JVM directly by running this command from the terminal:

evm -appletviewer http://www.whatever.com/yourpage.html
