Error During Software Installation

I am trying to install a few ipk packages on my new C3000 from a SD card. The unit recognizes the packages. Some install without problem but the others result in an error message:

"The file of this package includes characters this application cannot handle. Please change the filename and retry install."

I looked at the filenames of the packages and they look ordinary - no spaces or unusual characters. Could it be another problem?

I have had problems downloading .ipk files, sometimes it adds .tar on the end.
Remove the .tar extension part.

Also make sure installation ipks are in root of the card.
