Hey! I just ordered a new c860   I have a few questions.

1.   What would be a good way to view online books offline from places like http://www.fanfiction.net/  ?

2.   How well do standard zaurus apps work on the c860?

Thanks!

No, you misunderstand me. I am not reading e-books. I just want to read a website offline in the original format. Example http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2143351/1/

And I will search for standard apps.

Thanks!

Can you use something like plucker to download the site? Then there are readers that will handle the plucker file (can't remember the details, but I did this a few months ago).

Plucker? In my experience it was very slow, and lost formatting. However that was on windoze and palm, so I will try it again.

Both NetFront and Opera read those pages fine. They don't seem to have any special formatting that could confuse plucker, but you could read the raw html on opie-reader anyway. Opie-reader is also the best plucker reader I've tried on linux, windows or Mac.

Back up the truck... opie-reader can speak plucker?  Time to figure out how this thing works.

Try JustReader for reading the Plucker format (change the palm format to Plucker in the options).

I use jplucker (can get it from sourceforge) to do the actual spidering and building of the documents - works well with JRE on Linux from the desktop.

Opie-reader (http://www.timwentford.uklinux.net/) can read these formats

    *  "Doc" format - also known as the original Aportis or AportisDoc format.
    * Weasel or ztxt format.
    * Plucker format.
    * gzipped text.
    * ppms text.
    * iSilo 3 (unencrypted)
    * Mobipocket (unencrypted)
    * Rocket EBook (unencrypted)
    * Plain text with special handling of PML or HTML marked-up text.

I mostly use plucker (plucked with jpluck) or html, but have some Aportis formatted pdb files.

JustReader was ok, but opie-reader gives me the most comfortable formatting and I like the configurability of it too. Plus the auto-scroll is way cool.
