Alright, thanks scoutme.

If you're willing to entertain a few more questions, I'd really appreciate it.  Cacko's installer, once it's up and running can I unplug the unit from AC?  Also, DivX doesn't play very well, and I'm reflashing as I type this, so I haven't tested the newest compile.  The audio plays great, but the video is one frame and thats it.

My final question is probably complicated, and way above my head so here goes.  I've seen Ashley's thread, and tried to read it.  But I have no clue how to do much other than replace the updater.sh file. :/  Is this all very easy, and I just don't realize it, or is it complicated and not something I should toy with?

Note for others: apart from this, everything except the battery compartment is easily accessible using a PDair case, and you don't have to open the cover to plug in the charger.  A bit of a pain when you want to re-flash.
An easier way to get to the reflashing menu without pulling the battery is to hold down the "OK" button right after issuing the reboot command and keep holding it down during the shut-down process. It will reboot  into the flashing menu.  Much easier

Cheers,

the Ashley script is quite easy to use, indeed. Be sure to follow instructions. You should toy with it as much as you should with reflashing

Quite strange that your divx do not run properly. Are they slow or stuck?
Be sure they are smaller or equal to 320x240, and run them full screen - even if running them at higher resolution should be slower nut not so bad as it seems you are experiencing

Also, there are a lot of threads about watching movies on zaurus
