Hexadecimal editor

Does anyone know of a hex editor that can be used to inspect the contents of Zaurus files?  Something like khexedit or the time-honoured MS-DOS Debug?

I\'d appreciate any help.

(I know I could use a desktop or laptop to inspect files over a network like ssh, but I would like to be able to do it in standalone mode).

Many thanks

I just compiled hexedit for the Z and it basically works except I can't get the F1 key to work, which is rather important I think ... I'll keep trying a bit longer.

Ok, for the daring you can grab hexedit_1.2.10_arm.ipk and hexedit-doc_1.2.10_arm.ipk and give it a try. The F1 help key isn't likely to work unless you have a man page reader installed and it can find the hexedit manpage. If I ever get around to building a man program perhaps I'll add this package to my feed. For now I'll just leave it here for the daring to try and remove it when I think of it.

Ok, gone already. Now you can get ones that work from the feed hexedit_1.2.10-1_arm.ipk and hexedit-doc_1.2.10-1_arm.ipk.

hexedit now uses less instead of man, so there is still a dependency which lilkely is less bothersome to most people since less is widely available. Seems to work fine for me if you remember to disable various  other programs from grabbing the function keys.

It has been upgraded. Just look for current in this [a href=\"http://rose.public.iastate.edu/zaurus/]feed[/url].

you can also use mc (view->hex->edit, ie F3 F4 F2)
there is perhaps a more straightforward way to get there....

hexl mode in emacs...
